Re: Serious question...what did Heather Antos actually *do*?
Yeah, I'm not arguing with you or anything, and not trying to say "don't discuss this" I'm ..trying to be helpful I guess speaking as someone who was there.. Again, She was not the lead editor either. "Her books" the sales did just as well as anything else Valiant was pumping ou...

Re: Serious question...what did Heather Antos actually *do*?
And the cages? That was a crime against humanity. Well, not the cages so much as the separation of babies from mother's arms, then "lost" by records keepers almost certainly ending up in child-labor situations or human trafficking. That was the unforgivable thing Trump did. The cages are ...

Re: Serious question...what did Heather Antos actually *do*?
As much as I loathe to weigh in on political matters, MOTA has some good points about T-ump. I'm sympathetic to some culturally conservative ideas, but the Tump fans have to accept that the majority of the country (and the world) are straight up repulsed by the guy. That just makes us love him that...

LOL notice they can't argue on the facts, just anecdotal evidence (my black friends all love him!) and name calling. I like a challenge. The post quoted was this one: Well, there is a difference between unwarranted anger toward an individual based on their gender and justified concern over someone'...

Re: Serious question...what did Heather Antos actually *do*?
Poor Mexico, so far from the Lord, so close to the United States. This quote got me to comparing Trump to Porfirio Diaz in my mind. Wouldn’t it be great if Donald Trump was our version of Porfirio Diaz? :D :D I have no doubt that he wants to. It's his endgame. I would not have guessed you to be the...

Re: Serious question...what did Heather Antos actually *do*?
The mood on the boards when they brought Antos in on Valiant ranged from excited to cautiously optimistic. As an editor and later senior editor, she brought in creators whose only criteria were philosophical to churn out poor quality books, which she approved as editor. Her public perception was th...

You literally just admitted that a blacklisting perception, that caused the feedback, was justified in the previous post. Well, there is a difference between unwarranted anger toward an individual based on their gender and justified concern over someone's political beliefs. It's 2023 and we're anal...

Re: Clarke's Third Law - what does it say?
Why would the burden of proof be wholly on the side of magic? Why is magic assumed to be impossible if there is the slimmest indicator that some fictional artifact has a technological origin? Especially when the creators clearly meant for these artifacts to have magical origins, like the dagger and...

Re: Serious question...what did Heather Antos actually *do*?
In the '90s, VALIANT managed to do inclusion and diversity considerably better than most comic books, TV shows, and movies do today. Actually, 90s scifi/geek culture did diversity and inclusion much better than most things now. Think of all the female led action movies that weren't just vehicles fo...

Re: In Hindsight, does anyone wish VEI would've kept the OG VALIANT continuity?
Live-Action Gargoyles Series in Development at Disney+ (Report) In the comments, presumably fans are already *SQUEE* about it being a reboot instead of a revival that picks up from where it left off. If you asked them, I have no doubt they'd cherry pick what they'd like to keep and what they'd like...

Re: Clarke's Third Law - what does it say?
Agreed. However, before we reach this part, "When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong", we must first exhaust all other alternatives until we've reached the point in which it becomes absolutely impossible to use advanced technology to explain what appears to ...

Clarke's Third Law - what does it say?
Citations of Clarke's Third Law abound lately on this board. What does it say? What are its limitations? Clarke's Third Law says "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." This law does not say there is no magic; only that advanced technology is an alternative ...

"Everything in the universe is energy, it's all in how you move it". Phil Sileski was an educated man who had access to powers and energy that elude our grasp. He was here sharing an insight he had made after some individual experimentation, not offering a thesis for peer review. He had no...

No, any benefits the continuity would be outweighed by inaccessibility to new readers and the editorial limitations.

Re: Speculation: Bad Idea is doing Solar Man of the Atom
I would think that it would be a greater willful suspension of disbelief to accept naturally occurring timearcs than to completely dismiss magic, especially in a continuity with several characters of such supernatural dispositions.

Re: Speculation: Bad Idea is doing Solar Man of the Atom
Clarke's third law still applies, heh. Citation needed. If there are scientific explanations and descriptions for these phenomena, for the satchel and necromantic energy and the Bagh Nakh, does that require a technological origin of the ability to harness and control these phenomena and preclude so...
