Humor and comic books

I really enjoyed the Giffen run on Justice League (I, A, and E). For me there were some laugh-out-loud moments in those issues. What are some other books that fit in that mold?

Solar #1, Magnus #1, and the FCBD Solar/Magnus arrived today. Unless my memory is failing this is the first new release comics that I've gotten in 13 to 14 years. I really liked all of them and am glad I made the purchase. The story, art and colors in Magnus 1 were great. Although I liked the art in...

That's a movie I'd really like to see. I'm a big fan of his work. I loved Valiant. I loved Defiant even more. With that said, he really seems to be somewhat of an enigma. In the audio interviews that I've heard he comes across as friendly and approachable, but in the print interviews that I've read ...

I liked Man of Steel 1 pretty well. The cover for the direct version was excellent.

Thanks. I've probably heard it before and just don't remember it. Since Gram Parson was from Waycross I guess I can understand a song writer writing about the town. It's mentioned in a David Allen Coe song, too. Which one? It's a nice little town. It used to have a very friendly comic book store. Sa...

Waycross, Ga

Back in one or more of the early issues of Harbinger a little town called Waycross, Ga is mentioned. Did any of the folks at Valiant have any ties to Waycross or was it just a town that they picked at random? Does anyone know?

A few of my choices: Uncanny X-Men #198, interesting Storm story, and beautiful BWS art. Animal Man #26, the best post-modern comic ever. G.I. Joe #85, not objectively amazing, but it made a strong enough impression to make me start reading comics Sandman #38, this story always stood out to me for ...

Most impressive single issue?

What single issue of any comic has impressed you the most? For me it would probably be Batman #433. This was part one of the three part Many Deaths of the Batman run. I've read many issues that I've liked/enjoyed more, but this is the issue that impresses me most. Jim Aparo showed, at least in my op...

Ditto that!! I had been a very hardcore Trekkie/Trekker for YEARS. But, Babylon 5 made me realize just how much Trek was starting to suck. Now, and I say this seriously, I have forgotten more about Star Trek than most people ever know. I still love all 3, and the ranking order of the others fluctua...

This one is a little bit newer and may not count as "non-modern", but I've always liked it.

Personally, I always loved the early Valiant artwork, but I was never into the flashy stuff that Image was putting out. I just like well drawn clean artwork and a colorist who doesn't detract from it all. Jay Jay will always be one of my favorite colorists. I always liked the early Valiant too, but...

For me, the only series that would come close to Star Trek would be Stargate. I had forgotten about Stargate. Believe it or not my wife got me hooked on that. I had watched the first episode when it was on Showtime (?) and didn't really care for it so I didn't watch it again. When it moved to SciFi...

The Star Trek/Star Wars debate has always been funny to me because I've always liked them both.

But honestly if I was forced to watch a show/series/movie over and over again I'd probably have to pick Babylon 5 over Trek and SW.

I have to say that this thread has been interesting. I have a question about today's Marvel. Back when I quit buying new comics in the mid-90s one of the main reasons was money; however, there were some things that already had me somewhat irked before money became an issue. 1. My comic story

Hi guys, I've got some time to kill so I'll tell my comic book story instead of just my Valiant story. Way back in the early 70s I was 5 years old and lived way out in woods. To get to my house you would drive out to the middle of nowhere, turn left and drive some more. For some reason, I know not w...
