Re: Time for MOTA to return?

Which one was the guy who quit OTV in the middle of a show after losing it?

Are MOTA and ZWH the same person?

Re: Interesting posts from VEI on Facebook

While some stores might have given away Unity #0 for free to anyone (I know my store sure as heck didn't), I think it had a value because that 'free' price came as a bonus (like if you ordered the Unity saga that month you would get it). That gives it a perceived value or worth. Whereas FCBD books a...

Re: Finally starting to read...

so after a complete read through, how does it hold up? I have a few pre-DW2K issues that seemed okay despite everything looking orange. I've tried to read my DW2K (have every issue published) and RoM (have most if not all published) and I couldn't make heads or tails of most of it. The chapters didn...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

It's no different than the old days when there was enough evidence that the Valiant heads were a shady group. The proof wasn't Shooter or his allegations . . . that was one man and one incident One time is nothing. No, the smoke and fire came from Barry Windsor-Smith, who was not Shooter's friend b...

Re: OUR Questions for Valiant's Warren Simons - WARREN ANSWE

Hello Mr. Simons, I'll try to ask a question you can shed light on (as opposed to titles and dates and talent, which we understand to be coming in due time). How big or small do you anticipate the actual VEI production offices being? Meaning, will there be such a thing as 'knob row', i.e. a bullpen/...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

But people are still focusing on Shooter and ignoring Layton's blow-up with VEI. Other than their love of ponytails and being EiC's of Valiant, the two have been nothing alike since, ignoring their mutual animosity. Layton wanted to do more Hercules at Marvel, so he did more Hercules at Marvel. Shoo...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

Except NONE of Layton's or Shooter's problems with VEI (save cover design with Shooter, which seems very low on the list of his problems with them) had ANYTHING to do with old-fashioned sensibilities or whether they've had hits or what their egos are. Their problems were with how VEI didn't fulfill ...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

As quick as people might be to characterize Shooter's comments as those of a 'bitter old man' (and truthfully, even when he was a young man he could be seen as bitter, he seems to have always been as he is) or just Shooter being a failure etc . . . It's not just him. If you put him in a room with La...

He actually had a lot more to say about VEI before that in the comment section of one of his posts that might have been even more harsh. http://www.jimshooter.com/2011/10/new-52-general-conclusions-and-secret.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; RE: VEI: I will soon tell the...

Re: DC Relaunch Story Discussions ONLY (no market info or sp

As opposed to Shooter's newer books that were exactly right. With the same layouts he's been churning out since a school boy. Sorry but people in glass houses, pots and kettles etc etc. Regardless of art problems or release dates Shooter definitely has some blame for the DHGK line. Shooter didn't e...

re: the recompression of that issue and the art . . . I think Dr. Solar is too kind to Jim Lee about not wanting to interfere with his art. I hadn't seen any Jim Lee pages (not covers) for easily . . . 15 years? (I don't read comics anymore besides the cancelled Shooter titles). I suppose the last p...

question for you Ultraverse experts . . .

Why was Robertson only the penciler for issue #1 of Nightman? Not that I disliked Ha's art from 2-3, but I just thought it was weird that the series would kick off and then shift gears immediately.

have to agree with everyone else, the books have to be on time. Better to not even solicit without two complete issues in the can if that's what it takes. And please, pay for inkers. Unless the artist is long established as being a guy who can do great work on his own inks, get a real inker. And wha...

I'm not seeing what's so revolutionary about the Van Sciver page . . . is it just a double page spread slightly turned? It still is a left to right, top down piece. That’s actually my point. He took the panel layout and pushed it to the next level—making the reveal of the colored lanterns that much...

good storytelling is good storytelling. If old-fashioned traditional panels are what it takes to tell the story, then that's what it takes. As an example, I believe I've seen on here accusations that Shooter railroaded BWS into stifling grids and hamstrung a master storyteller like BWS. But I just l...

OTV should do a mandatory reading of "Deathwatch 2000" like was done with Unity and the Malev War. DW2K was a direct result of the success of Unity, so it makes sense to break it down as a comparison.

Sadly, reading it will hurt . . . real bad. :D

I'm guessing the Classic Media dollar requirements were a much bigger factor than what DH is telling the media.

If the problem was Jim Shooter, they would just fire him and get one of the other hundred writers they've used to get the books out.

Did Valiant really have mail-order subscriptions?

I did a search on the forum and only found a Nintendo-related ad. There's ads in the Shooter era books for subscriptions to the Valiant Heroes books. Did these really happen? Did anyone have one? How long did the subscriptions go? Were they there the whole time and I just never noticed the ads? Did ...

sad day, I'm deeply disappointed.

Unfortunately as I understand things Classic Media also own/control the Defiant and Broadway characters, so it's not like Shooter can just go and get those.
