Eisners, Valiant and paying it forward!
First of all - I am aware this could go in several different sections, but I really wanted to share this story as it is important to me! Secondly - I do tend to slip in and out of the forums (life reasons), so apologies if this still comes off n00bish! Okay. To start at the beginning: 1. My LCS is A...

Re: VcVSS & VfVSS projects on Ebay
Excuse me if this is rude/inappropriate, but I'm curious to know what many of these projects initially cost. I've seen them all referenced etc but as I'm about 8 years late to the party I find it hard to objectively value them. They're all amazing but I just have no point of reference when bidding >...

Re: WTB - CGC 9.8 Slabs and Gold Key/Dell
I know where there is a Star Trek number one. It had a little chip from the bottom right corner of the front cover. Price seemed okay for low to mid grade. Only problem is I'm in Australia. I can hook you up with the retailer though if you wanna chat about it? My recommendation is free of charge. Le...

My first submission: the results (with pictures!!!)
So after a long wait I have finally found the time to post the Valiant components of my first ever CGC submission late last year. I asked for advice on this board prior to submitting. And then went away and made my own decisions anyway haha. For better or worse these are the results. A couple notes ...

Re: What will be the first VEI book to surpass its VH1?
Perhaps more interesting (and a logical extension of the OP) - which series will pass their original numbers AND how long will each series last? I see Harbinger breaking 41 easily but X-O for example seems a tougher proposition. And Eternal Warrior already seems to have hit an obstacle given how lon...

Re: Turok 1 - it could be worse
I read issue 1 having not read ANY Turok book previously. Yes I'm a new fan. Still playing catchup. Shame on me. So coming as a completely fresh reader: This book made no sense. Absolutely none. If you have no context. No "assumptions". If you can't fill in the gaps with previous knowledge...

Shadowman variant is amazing. Kind of feels like an homage to the earlier mask cover (issue escapes me) but not.

Re: Which VH1 books to CGC?
It's less that I know what I want to collect and more that I want to slab something to preserve it if it's worthwhile. Like in other discussions it's clear that some books are desirable even in 9.6. Some only 9.8. And some are labelled "not worth slabbing". Having had one experience of sub...

Re: Shared Universe Coming Together (Beware: possible spoile
Referring back to the original posts (without hijacking the subsequent thread...) - as someone who has read "new" Valiant first predominantly and is only now heading back to the pre-unity stuff (and beyond) with any seriousness, I really like the pacing to this point. Harbinger is easily m...

Which VH1 books to CGC?
So I have begun the daunting task of sorting/re-organising my Valiant collection. And I plan to give every book a quick look over before I file it away. Just wondering which VH1 books (Golds/VVSS aside) that I should try and look for slab candidates. I'm seeing lots of books in that awkward 9.2-9.6 ...

Re: WTB Harbinger #7 lupacchino variant
I have three or four copies, but I'm in Australia. And last time I checked they were all 9.2/9.4ish in quality. Nice to be sure, but not slab worthy. I'd love to have all the character "portrait" covers slabbed. They look great together even with different artists.

Re: Organising your collection
Thanks for all your ideas. I pretty much plan to follow the issue list etc. how it is set out here, albeit first dividing by era. Still torn on doing the Pre-Unity / Unity / Post-Unity split. I just think it will make most sense to me in terms of reading the books and finding what I am looking for i...

Organising your collection
So I have found myself with some time to organise my comics - and they definitely need it. My Valiant books are by far the largest "component" of my collection to this point, but I am torn on how to divide them up. I have the vast majority of all eras, though have honestly not read too muc...

Re: WTB Unity #1 3-D cover (Re-Opened for others)
I feel bad on one level... For all the obvious reasons.
But the reason I got it so cheap is simply because the owner of my LCS was being generous. And he knows how grateful I am. So it's ultimately a happy story lol

Re: What would be the value of...
I found one in person...in Australia. So you know. Not exactly a common occurrence. It is a little beat up, creasing and what not. But the actual image is bright and clear etc. I think I'll aim for around the 50 mark and see if it takes. If you think that is a good deal...

What would be the value of...
An Armorines standee - the retail display ones. I found an old post where someone had an Armorines one and a Visitor one. Were any others made? Anyway - I may have the opportunity to acquire one. They can't be that common nowadays surely? It's a little beat up. Just want to make the guy a fair offer...

Re: Bloodshot 0 Platinum: Legit?
He was perfectly willing to deal through eBay. But like you said. No scans were forthcoming. He offered to cut a deal with me because he messed me around on some other lots (that he listed and promptly removed). I obviously wasn't going to hand over a cent until I was convinced one way or the other....

Re: Bloodshot 0 Platinum: Legit?
I've had a bunch of contact with this seller. He claimed to have accepted a best offer on the "Platinum" and to own a subsequent copy which he offered me. He has now also listed a "Pink/Gold" variant. It is clear to me however that he has engaged in a LOT of fraudulent activities...
