Re: SHadowman's sickle
Yeah, I don't remember Shadowman's scythe (not really, but basically yeah) having any powers. The original concept art gave it three "modes" that it could switch between, but the comic itself never made use of that.

Re: The direction of Doctor Mirage
"Punk Mambo" isn't a name. It's a title. She is literally a punk mambo . I don't see anything wrong with how Dr. Mirage has been handled. It seems like Van Meter has taken over as the main "Dr. Mirage" writer, as she's just expanding on a character that really didn't have a lot o...

Re: Valiant To Create A New Female Icon For 2016
(Also want to note that it's very easy to just call something "iconic" without it actually being iconic. Ubisoft famously got a lot of *SQUEE* for trying to merchandise Aiden Pierce's "iconic" cap a good while before Watch_Dogs was even released.) This would be a perfect place f...

Re: Valiant To Create A New Female Icon For 2016
Y'know, I always took Livewire to be Valiant's analog to Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, considering her importance to the universe thus far. Hell, she hits the double-whammy by being both female and black. The fact that she hasn't had her own comic yet is surprising, though one could say Unity was...

Haters gonna hate. Can't wait to pick this up! It's not hate, if I'm actually buying the book. More like, dislike. :thumb: You underestimate the levels some people would go. :P The fact that Asmus is running this has me curious. All he has under his Valiant belt is Q&W, which is so completely b...

The big Marvel movies in China haven't had to make big changes like that. They've had minor changes, but it seems like the movies are partially popular because they're American. Yeah, Captain America in particular is stupidly popular outside the US. Anyone remember Iron Man 3? How China forced in s...

Re: The 4-issue arc
100th post get hype. As a counter-argument to the thread, I don't mind the 4-issue arc in theory. I actually kinda prefer the decompressed style compared to the compressed of the 90s, because it allows for a much more natural flow, especially when it comes to body movements and dialogue (I'll even a...

Re: Ninjak #7 Discussion
It's actually pretty interesting to not have the villain's name come up in the narrative, but I'll admit to being a bit upset about her name being Sanguine. Kannon is named after the Japanese goddess of mercy, La Barbe is French for "The Beard"....and then Sanguine just destroys the theme....

Re: Unity #22
If Kindt had previously hinted at his existence in some fashion within these last few issues, then his reveal would have had more impact (especially considering his connection to the first arc). But the whole point of his character arc is that he's a nobody. He got turned down from the gang of glor...

Re: Ok, Mile High Comics has lost their minds!
It's Bloodshot, which is one of the Movie Deal characters, and people are looking to cash in. This is the biggest reason why I made such an effort to build a VH1 collection before the relaunch back in May 2012: the expectation that, if they hit it big in the market, the prices were going to jump as...

Re: DynaKey Phase Two --featuring the combo book
Magnus ended (surprisingly off, given how good the rest of the book was), Turok ended (as badly as it started, despite the promise from the second arc), Solar ended (too mediocre for me to continue beyond #8), and Doctor Spektor was never meant to be more than a mini (and since it was never Valiant ...

Re: Book of Death #2
Book of Death has been very nicely done so far. I could tell from the brief moments at the end of The Valiant that I was going to like Tama and I definitely do, the whole conflict of there being two Geomancers active at once is interesting, and Master Darque makes a grand re-entry as he tortures the...

Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
Very well done. It's been noted how dynamic of a character Ninjak has become with how much he's changed over the years, and I definitely see it. I love the ties into Rai, with Spylocke being part of a large organization of them, Harada having definite ties to New Japan and most likely Father, and th...

Re: BOD: The Fall of Bloodshot - Discussion
So I caught myself up with Bloodshot: Reborn first before reading through this, and it's interesting comparing Bloodshot in both books. I'll save most of my thoughts of Reborn for Reborn #6, but his whole character arc has been oddly fascinating and a very different take on the character as we know ...

According to international law, no one is allowed to claim Mars (or any other celestial body) for their country. Its like international waters. That's neat, I didn't even know about that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Space_Treaty" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Prett...

Re: Ninjak #6
Ninjak logically would only have an accent when he wants to, so imagine away. That's probably true, and I hadn't even thought of that before. That's cool as hell, now I'm imagining him talking like Jon Benjamin in public and then sounding like Cumberbatch when he's back home and doesn't have to hid...

Re: Dead Drop #4
Thanks for the little expose on Kot, by the way. Reiko's "Let the women speak, Jon" whiplashed me with utterly abrupt it was, and in a way it's good to know that it comes from Kot trying to pander to the SJWs. Gives it context, at the very least. Thanks. I was honestly halfway expecting t...

Re: Ninjak #6
So this turned a bit kookier than I was expecting it to, but I actually don't mind right now. It's still well-written and does well preserving the spy thriller feel. Ninjak continues to be awesome without becoming too OP, and the backstory is continuing to interest. Between Kannon the sumo wrestler,...

Re: Dead Drop #4
Finally got my hands on this, and good God does it find a way to suck more than it used to. I knew from the other thread that Beta-Max was going be saved, invalidating his whole character arc in the last issue, and that alone is pretty bad. But then you bring in the Mary Sue hackers of pureness, the...

I never thought I'd like Khari Evan's art...VEI proved me wrong. I've hated the faces on Khari Evan's characters since day one and still do. The same squashed up, pouty little face on every person - everybody looks the same  I hated it at first, then at some point I really started enjoying it...

I used to be pretty vocally anti-VEI. Then came X-O Manowar 1. I hated Harbinger 1. Hated it. How can this book about a rapist be at all good? Then came Harbinger 2. I feel reformed. I still think that's going to be a huge challenge to pull off in a movie. They may have to play with the events betw...
