Re: Bad Idea rubbing people wrong?

It sounds like the books are falling into the hands of the wrong people which is the opposite of what was intended. When "fans" camp outside of a shop so they can be the sole person to get a gold pin and then turn around to sell the pin on eBay are they really a fan? Hell no!

Honestly, I have seen ...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

I just finished reading the fifth issue of Aftershock's We Live , one of the most heartfelt series I've ever read with one of the most shocking endings to any journey I've taken. An incredible story unto itself which serves as the cornerstone of something far bigger to come. This may be the most ...

Re: Valiant Solicitations February 2021 and Beyond

Perhaps it's telling that I finally sat down to comb through my DCBS list of unshipped items and see that Doctor Tomorrow 5, Bloodshot 8 and 9, Rai 7, 8, 9 and 10 and X-O 2 have all been released these past few months and yet DCBS either never got them or at least none of them were shipped to me.

X ...

Re: Valiant Solicitations February 2021 and Beyond

DCBS has done me a favor. And, yeah, DCBS hasn't stocked my copies of Bloodshot 8 and 9 either. I hadn't noticed, and that means I don't care.

I've been re-reading all the Acclaim Valiant run recently and absolutely despise all of those books -- even the ones I liked back in the day are dreadful ...

Re: Valiant Solicitations February 2021 and Beyond

DCBS canceled my months-old order for the Savage 1-4 pre-order bundle a couple of days ago. Although Savage 1 is currently available for pre-order I don't see a bundle in the offering. Is it safe to assume there won't be a pre-order bundle for Savage? I wouldn't be surprised if Valiant is ...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

I'm still reading everything Valiant, but the books aren't as good as they once were and I'm contemplating dumping them. The big surprise is I've been buying everything Zenescope for at least a couple of years and I'm thoroughly enjoying most of these books. DC's Hill House books have been solid. I ...

Unless things have changed, the pre-order editions contain eight extra pages of behind-the-scenes information which are added to the middle of the book and are exclusive to the pre-order edition.

Re: China’s Stock Regulator Sounds Warning on DMG

A DMG sale of VEI could be the best of times, or the worst of times. I’m sort of wondering about this possibility. What would be the likely outcomes?
Almost anything is possible nowadays. My biggest fear is that Valiant ends up being sucked into Marvel or DC. That would kill Valiant for me. I've ...

This stinks!

So I get this e-mail from DCBS:

Issue #6 of Ninja-K was erroneously not offered in a pre-order bundle by Valiant at the time of solicitation. This issue does have a pre-order edition and has been filled to match the original pre-order bundle for 1-4. If you would like to have ...

Re: Tough Break for Dark Horse - Conan to Marvel in 2019

I think Marvel mostly wants to clean up their existing library of Conan material and repackage them in Omnibus format like they did with Master of Kung Fu. For that reason alone I'm excited about Conan being back at Marvel.

And could it be that Marvel as a whole anticipates a future lack of ...

Re: To all those saying they are thinking of quitting Valian

Valiant's relaunch has, overall, been substantially better than the original run of Valiant. I've been re-reading all of the old Valiant books these past couple of years and it's mostly the Jim Shooter ones that are great. Within a few months of his departure everything except X-0 fell apart. Bad ...

Re: Catalyst Prime (New CB Universe)

What a difference a few more books make. While I'm still loving Noble, the second issue of Accell read like a terrible issue of The Flash, Superb 1 was just okay (nothing truly innovative) and Incidentals was a dud with boring writing and mediocre art. Writer Joe Casey is looking like a very weak ...

Re: What Marvel Comics needs to do

Much of Marvel's problems stem from an apparent unwillingness to create new characters. I think I've only heard of one new character they've introduced in the past five years -- I believe he/she is called Mosaic. I'll let Marvel readers chime in with their possible lists. I'm under the impression ...

Re: DC Comics Relaunching Everything In June

I'm still buying all the Rebirth titles. The only books I'm not liking are New Superman, Hellblazer, Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Hal Jordan. Would have dumped all those, but would get less of a discount for dropping bundles to get individual titles, so no gain by dropping anything. Sigh.

Have to ...

Re: Double Take Universe

I'll miss Double Take. They had some of the best books of the past year; best publisher second only to Valiant in my opinion. Admittedly, launching with ten titles based on Night of the Living Dead was a bad idea, particularly for a super-hero universe. These were strong, cohesive stories and I ...

Re: Why???

It's sad to see a company that consistently puts out quality books on schedule sitting on the bottom of the ladder. I'm also disappointed to see DC's numbers so low compared to Marvel-less. DC's Rebirth books are turning out to be some of the best books they've put out in a couple of decades.

Re: DC Comics Relaunching Everything In June

I've finished the June batch and have dipped into July. I must say there's not a bad book in the bunch, can't even say that for Valiant. I haven't enjoyed DC this much since The Eighties! Glad I jumped in, and I plan to stick around for the foreseeable future.

Re: Will DC's $3 books hurt Valiant

Valiant might be hurt slightly, though I think Marvel will suffer the most damage. DC usually gives 20 pages of story and art for $2.99, while Marvel charges $3.99 for the same. Valiant, though also $3.99, usually has 22 pages of material. Frankly, Marvel gives less bang for the buck than pretty ...

After reading some reviews of the first issue of Micronauts I set my expectations very low. After reading, I'd say it's just okay. I simply don't see how that particular franchise can ever be great again without Bug, Marionette and the true Acroyear.

I liked it. It's not as good as Man of Steel, but it was much more enjoyable than the last three Marvel movies.
