Re: New Ninjak series by Jeff Parker and Javier Pulido

It's such a departure from past Ninjak series, that I was very thrown off initially by this announcement. However, Pulido's art reminds me a lot of Stan Sakai's style, which I can definitely get behind. I'm honestly more excited by Jeff Parker coming on to write. He took over Aquaman after Geoff Joh...

Re: Massive layoffs at Valiant today :(

Juan Jose Ryp has moved on from Rai Where'd you hear that? He posted it. I followed up with him and some others. He loved doing Rai but with pencils down he moved on to other projects, like several other artists. I really hope he comes back, but I think he is to in demand for that to happen. Where'...

Re: Free Valiant Comics

Just to build on from what was posted, they're all VEI (2012-2018) and VH1 books, so there's no worry about quality.

Re: Resuming Valiant reading and now heartbroken?

Usually Dan Abnett is working on and writing several stories at a time. And also writing novels. That’s how I know him; not from his work in comics but his many highly regarded novels for Black Library’s line about Warhammer 40,000. He’s their most popular author. Yes, of course. The question is mo...

Honestly, I'm more interested in who the artist is. I'm hopeful for someone more akin to a Francis Portella in style than someone like Emilio Laiso on X-O.

Mintz was interviewed by Deadline... it's an interesting read

So Dan Mintz was interviewed regarding Valiant's future in movies. I know this needs no repeating here, but he comes off like a complete tool. Delusional too. However, as previously reported he does seem to have an affinity for the Anni-Padda bros, which could bode well for bringing them to the big ...

Re: The Bloodshot movie...what would have happened

... opening weekend....Not great.... Now, as far as the Harada scene, I'm not sure how much it would change the overall reaction to the movie. For us Valiant fans, it'd be awesome, but also hollow since we know Harbinger is over at Paramount. But for most, it'd look simply like setup for a sequel a...

Re: The Bloodshot movie...what would have happened

Honestly, I think the coronavirus outbreak allowed the studio and Valiant to save face, because it was going to bomb at the box office. It took in about $10 million in its opening weekend. If you want to be generous and give it a 3X multiplier, it's only bringing in about $30 million against a $45 m...

Re: Bloodshot movie vs novelzation

I picked it up when it was released on digital. I thought it was average. I didn't find it bad, but I didn't find it to be very good. I think if Vin Diesel looked like Bloodshot for most of the movie, my personal enjoyment would have increased quite a bit. I mean, we now live in an era where the mos...

Re: Are we becoming indifferent towards Valiant?

I've been reading stories with these characters in them since the mid 90s and I still like what I read. I also think we're nowhere near as bad as the Acclaim material was. Each to their own but let’s also recognise that you’re in the minority amongst Valiant fans, at least on this site which is the...

Re: XO and Savage cancelled??

I think this has more to do with the “pencils down” order and halt to publication during the Coronavirus outbreak than anything else. Savage was always going to be a limited series, so it’s not likely to get cancelled, and XO—as crappy as the reviews have been—is still their best selling, “flagship...

Re: Are we becoming indifferent towards Valiant?

I am a trade waiter... Has the TPB for LADOTH been released yet? I heard something that sounded like it has. I prefer Trades myself, too. It is out and the series completely lives up to the hype! I'm hoping this gets a deluxe edition release. Then again, there are a bunch of titles I've been waitin...

Re: Are we becoming indifferent towards Valiant?

I guess I come at it from a different perspective. I lost interest around the time of Harbinger Renegades and Generation Zero, only to start checking out their newer stuff. Frankly, I'm encouraged by the direction things are taking. I've also gone back and read some of the stuff I've missed out on, ...
