Re: What is considered to be the first variant cover?

I've always thought that The Man of Steel #1 was the first one. Its dated July-Sept 1986.

BTW, the Spider-Man marriage annual came out in 1987.

Re: Key Annual Issues

What about Superman - Batman Annual #4, the introduction of Batman (and Superman) Beyond into the regular run of titles?

Very cool - yeh, I think the other bits will help pull off the X-O look quite nicely.

Re: variant issue?

Pardon me if I come off a bit negative, but I think the blogger is an idiot. I don't need to be protected from the comic book industry. Reading and collecting comics has been my choice for over 20 years. If I feel I need to "collect em all" that's part of the fun. On some books - especialy...

Re: Did BloodShot #1 & 2 Second Print Come out on schedule??

I have a standing "everything Valiant" order with my LCS, and had the Bloodshot reprints along with the new issue waiting for me last week.

To add to my score, the shop was running a 50% off back issue scale, and I picked up a NM VH1 X-O #4 for only $4!

Re: Shadowman #1 Discussion

Just to put the panels where Jack throws the amulet into the water in to context...

The area is clearly the French Quarter bank of the Mississippi River. The river runs so fast and deep one can only assume that the amulet is gone aside from any supernatural intervention...

Things finally slowed down enough for me to check out the new HC. It's sweet - can't wait for future volumes.

Re: Looks like Shadowman - Teaser image inside

Excellent work, Sanman! I wish I had the time to put more effort into it. What about black pants with the blue shirt as you already have? I don't think I like the mask being white. It actually is very reminiscent of Chapel rather than Shadowman. But, I'm just glad he's not in a trench coat... I was...

As of now I'm reading just the new Valiant titles and IDW's TMNT--canceled the last of my DCnU books a few months ago!

I'd agree that it's a mask. I don't think face paint would be deliberately drawn as tight. Still, I got a feeling that the mask is white...

Re: Looks like Shadowman - Teaser image inside

The recent Shadowman teaser has really fueled my enthusiasm for the new line. Below is my take on the potential colors. The line on the nose suggests to me that what we're looking at is the traditional voodoo skull face paint (as others have suggested). No, the weapon isn't intended to be white... h...

Re: Star Wars - QUESTION about ESB figures

I concur; the Han is clearly the Endor version without the coat on a repo card. I can’t imagine a legit scenario where one (without the blaster and coat) could have been packaged on an ESB card anyway.

Thanks guys, I’m really excited. I don’t actively collect sports memorabilia, but I have a soft spot for the classic Yankees. When Steve, the LCS owner, showed me the collection I thought he had bought them for himself. I didn’t think to ask about buying any—especially not the Mickey Mantle. As it t...

My LCS picked up a small collection of late ‘50s early ‘60s baseball cards, and hooked me up with this ‘64 Mickey Mantle and a few other Yankee bits for $20.
