Were the VEI golds only given out at cons? I only saw VEI at one convention (Miami in 2015 I think) but I picked up a bunch second hand over the years.

I can’t wait for somewhere down the road when I have dementia to come back here and reread this thread.

Further disclaimer … if I’m at a con and can’t find any decent stuff to buy I will sometimes find a terrible artist and pay them to do a Hotwire sketch cover. Although one guy did a truly fantastic one once for $20.

I felt like the story tried to cover too much ground and ended up hopping from plot to plot. The art was not really my thing either. I'm holding out hope for the rest of the series though.

OK, I went ahead and read it. I'd say not as bad as X-O 57 but the story was too angsty and confusing and the art took me right out. I'd give it a 2/10 and it makes me wonder if they're biting off more than they can chew with a line-wide event. I love that they are bringing the traditional core ...

This one hurt ... I had so many good interactions with him, he retired not too far from where I live and I would see him every now and then. Just a decent man and interesting as hell.
