Re: Valiant Heroes: Starting Over

I didn't realize it had been seven years since I last posted! But, yeah. I haven't been following much of the VEI stuff. I read most of it through Death of the Geomancer, then mostly got out of comics. I've stopped in infrequently and accidentally found the post about the Starting Over files. Just g...

I still have them but am away on a business trip. Should have them available this weekend, if anybody still wants them.

I still have the original scans that I provided to Moonchild way back when. I'm on a business trip right now but should have them available this weekend if wanted.

Re: Batman: War Games

Why does it seem like Batman is new to Gotham. One reporter keeps saying things like "He's real!", etc. Shouldn't Batman be well known by this time? While Denny O'Neil was the Group Editor for all of the Bat-books, he insisted upon the conceit that Batman was an "urban legend"; ...

Re: Valiant Presents?

I think one of the keys to this being a success is to not emulate "Marvel Fanfare." Fanfare started off with a similar grand concept, but VERY quickly degenerated into almost a tryout book or a "get rid of inventory stories" book. The concept should stay at good stories with good...

Re: Mapping out VH1 here...

Oh yeah! I've just received a set of eight books back from them and they are fantastic (especially at the price point where they are operating!) I have another six books ready to ship out and will probably send them out after the 4th. I cannot recommend Herring & Robinson highly enough!

Re: What's in VH1 Solar #0

When and if you're planning on binding Solar 0 with Solar 1-10 or some other later issue, you might consider using the TPB instead of the inserts. When I bound mine, I thought about the inserts but there was an issue with a page or two not quite syncing with the rest of the book. Let me know if you ...

Just chiming in as someone like bribri that has bound his comics. I've bound the complete Valiant/Acclaim runs in a total of 48 books. As bribri have noted, binding is a somewhat unique and personal type of project. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v330/stopper/Shelf04.jpg http://img.photobucket.co...

Re: Found these in a $1 Bin

There is the oft rumored (once seen in a scan I think) Sega Variant version of this book. Not sure if it was officially confirmed. I remember the pic of it. I'm not sure it really exists.. I can honestly tell you I owned a Sega Saturn when it came out. I bought it on Sega Saturn. This wasn't someth...

Re: Bound books

I've been using Herring and Robinson out of the San Francisco area and their basic price is $18.50 a book (plus shipping). My last order with them (pictures below) for six books cost $145.00 total. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v330/stopper/NewBooksJan12.jpg - All six books had head bands instal...

Re: Bound books

Bribri Keep it up! My set ended up being a total of 48 books and I'm constantly pulling one or more of the books off my shelves to re-read stories or runs. And doesn't Herring & Robinson do a great job!?! I've had them do 12 other books for me and their quality to price comparison is second to n...

Re: Mapping out VH1 here...

And as an answer to Malev Emperor and any others with a like question - I've started using Herring and Robinson in San Francisco. Their prices are great - $23.50 for bindings with multiple die stampings; $18.50 for basic binds (no die stamps) and the quality is among the best I've seen - much better...

Re: Bound books

Where the batman books done in leather? Thanks, Nate They were actually done in imitation leather -- same price point as buckram. I asked for a Navy Blue imitation leather. Does the paper you use match comic page size or do you have to cut it down to get it to match? I use a regular 8.5x11 paper an...

Re: Bound books

I generally use a 24lb paper and print from a color laser. I've tried ink jet and while that might work "IF" you only have to print on one side, double sided printing is bad (due to the ink saturation). I've never even tried going to a printing service like Kinkos for pages. I used to have...

Re: Bound books

My first question, would you include Vintage Magnus? I know the completest answer is yes, but it just interrupts the flow of the story. I'm debating on just leaving them out of this set. I would not include them. Those are Gold Key reprints, not "Valiant" comics per se. Yes, published pri...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v330/stopper/NewBooks.jpg The Doctor Strange and Micronauts books cost me $18.50/each to be bound. The Batman books were $23.50/each. Re: Bound books

If anyone plans on using Herring and Robinson, their prices and quality are outstanding! Cheaper in price than Library Binding and quality on a par with David Banks' products. I'm confident I read they will not have a booth but all will be there. No idea about announcements or anything, just that they would be attending.
