Maybe they can do a Captain Marvel/SHAZAM! on Solar, Magnus and Turok. Who owns Valiant reprinting rights for those characters? This isn't a Captain Marvel/Shazam situation. Dark Horse doesn't just have rights to the trademarks, they have the rights to the characters. It seems like a pretty complic...

Poll: Solar & Magnus stories at Dark Horse

Does the news that Dark Horse will be the company publishing new Solar and Magnus stories change the way you think of VEI? I don't know if any poll can cover all the possible reactions, but I tried to cover what i see as being the major ones.... EDIT: My fifth category got chopped off. It was: Valia...

Maybe they can do a Captain Marvel/SHAZAM! on Solar, Magnus and Turok. Who owns Valiant reprinting rights for those characters? The question of "what if" VEI couldn't get a hold of all or any of the Dell/Gold Key characters has come up. I'm sure those conversation will either be revived o...

At the risk of being branded a heretic, I'm honestly tired of waiting for an announcement on ongoing series from VEI too. And I’d don’t want a rushed line of comics, mind you, but it would be nice to at least know thier plans even if it is another year out. I’m starting to feel like a fool talking ...

I was also hoping that VEI would have some announcements. Thats why I'm at least glad that somebody is going to start publishing Solar and Magnus in the near future. I’ll check the new books out—at least we will have some sort of newly published Valiant comic before the year’s end. I do wish VEI th...

It isn't too much of a surprise since Dark Horse has been republishing the old Magnus and Solar stories for a while now. I'm actually interested to see what they do with them since Dark Horse does put out quite a bit of quality stuff. They didn't specifically mention Turok, but they did say that th...

This may be why we hadn't heard any definitive plans on ongoings. At least knowing that Dark Horse will now be the home of the Gold Key characters - VEI can move forward with plans that allow for a modified Solar and perhaps a Magnus replacement to be part of their new VEI universe. But this is disa...

sorry, just saw it and thought someone might be interested Thanks for posting it. I'm not a big Shockini fan either. (this was first time I'd seen what they looked like) But its better than nothing. The thing that worked out great for me is that a comic shop soon opened and it was right next to the Post Office! They were both within walking distance, so instead of re-subscribing, I started buying comics from the shop and the rest is history. It was a loooong walk for me. Next to a Mobile refin...

Haven't subscribed to a comic through Marvel since I had a subscription to the Hulk as a kid. They would come in a brown paper sleeve and used to get rolled up and jammed into my mom's Post Office box. I remember Marvel used to claim that the books were "mailed flat". Well, they sure didn...

I've appreciated the answers so far. I like the "real time" aspect because it is something that helps distinguish VALIANT even more from the other companies. But I like certain characters enough that I'd be okay with them slowing time for them so I could read about them a lot longer. But r...

Real time vs comic book time in a VEI relaunch?

If VEI does launch a line of ongoing comic books - would you prefer the company to age the characters 1 year for every year they publish (real time) or would you rather see them not focus on the ticking clock so closely (comic book time)? No right or wrong answers here (in my opinion) just different...

Re: Josiah Torrent and Sarah Boniface: Jack's Parents

I was just reading Shadowman #20 for the wiki. It says that Josiah Torrent was a snake charmer that seduced Sarah, Jack's mother, with his powers. Is the author telling us that Sarah was a snake? :hm: (that is, had attributes that would conform to the slang use of the term). It would have been inte...

Thats what I am waiting for. Ongoing titles. The mini stories included in the hardbacks are nice, but not nearly enough for me. :D Yes, Geomancer is worth reading.

Though I admit - for all the characters you (OP) mentioned the concepts were better than the execution.

Objectively speaking, I think Timewalker was the best of the lot and Visitor had the most room for improvement. For me, Geomancer fits right in the middle.

For me, I'd say no thanks.

I like comic books because of serialized storytelling.

Something like Marvel Adventures is great for a change of pace. But making all things one way or another seems like a terrible idea to me.

Variety and quality are what I'd like to see.

My point is, if there were a new X-O Manowar series, I wouldn't want them to spend a lot of time explaining the past. I would just want them to jump on with what is going on now. They can fill in the past slowly, as needed, but I really don't need or want and explanation of what came before to enjo...

I appreciate the effort it took to come up with that scenario, but a win for me includes a living and breathing XO cast with Cartier, Clarkson and co. in it. It is highly unlikely to be a winning scenario for me if it ever mentions continuity from the latter years. I don't think I'm alone in that li...
