Re: Which title from this line was your favorite?

Been a long time since I enjoyed reading a superhero comic as much as I did Doctor Solar #5-8.

Re: Question about DCBS

Have been using DCBS since 2007 and have only had one problem with their service and it was addressed immediately. If receiving your books in the best condition possible is a priority, I would recommend selecting the Mylite2/Fullbacks option at 50 cents each for bag and board. This will minimize th...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

Just read Sixth Gun Vol 1 and was the most fun I've had trade reading all year. The art is not dramatic and can be described as "cartoonish", but the story is solid. Not as serious a read as Walking Dead and other mature content horror titles but this is a book the industry should be promo...

Re: Occultist being released November 9th.

Find it difficult to believe issue 1 in this mini is a reprint of the one-shot. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen DH incorrectly link the wrong preview to a page. Guess all will be revealed soon enough.

Either way, I'm passing on this mini-series until they become available for less $'s.

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

I've met Jim Shooter several times now, although I can't say I "know" him personally, but I think the guy is a brilliant writer/editor when things are "right" for him. If any of you remember his panel at Javitz a few years ago when he went through his thought on a couple differe...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

The vast majority of Jim's comments that I have read are positive. Even with those he has had disagreements with, he offers compliments, gives credit, and offers mostly positive commentary where appropriate. It appears that in regards to the subject in question, Jim's association with VEI appears t...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

So the suggestion is that Jim is responsible for the failure of Defiant and Broadway? I would like to see evidence supporting the assumption that he had any other option than to make the decisions he made in those situations. I'm not privy to all the details surrounding his departure from VEI as mos...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

Certainly Jim is a factor in each situation. Can't think of anyone talented in their profession who doesn't have some ego. Goes with the territory. There is little doubt his departure from VEI could have been handled infinitely better on both sides. Even his recent time on LOSH writing for DC lead t...

Re: Question About Reading Habits

Have read only the first 2 issues of Starbrand. Been awhile but I recall liking issue 1 better than the second. Both were ok but never read further than that. Always been another read higher on my priority list.

Re: Gold Key characters in 2012 thread

Back on topic............. Seems to me the primary reason that DH is planning to move forward without Jim is the expected print runs of new books simply won't afford them the $'s to pay him for his services. Hopefully DH has a change of heart. At the very least, perhaps DH will consider engaging hi...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

Well have dropped Irredeemable and Incorruptible. Read through issue 29 of Irredeemable and not impressed with the direction of this series. Irredeemable has been mostly disappointing since issue 19 which is a surprise since Waid is writing. If not for the long wait for the DK releases, would probab...

Terry Moore's Echo Iron Man: Demon in the Bottle Star Brand Justice Peter David's complete run on The Incredible Hulk vol. 1 Finished the complete Echo trade last week. Shocked that it was as good as it was. Probably helped that my expectations weren't high. Looking forward to reading Moore's new R...

Re: Gold Key characters in 2012 thread

I think with the capital VEI seems to have secured, as long as the product is good and timely (let's hope the boys realize how important it is to have the first story arcs completed before the first issues are released), the opportunity is there for them to succeed.

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

I'd like to hear the story. I'm sure it has some merit to it. Regardless though, whatever Jim says, it's always negative unless it's something that's stroking his cack. It's old and at some point, you've got to realize the problem is him and take his side of things with a grain of salt. If by good ...

Re: Anyone read this in a recent Jim Shooter blog post?

For part of the time I worked (secretly, at their insistence) for the unlearned children who ran Valiant Entertainment, Inc., Bill Jemas, former Marvel publishing V.P., served as a consultant to VEI. I would often try to gently explain various publishing or comics 101 things to the children. Bill w...

Re: Gold Key characters in 2012 thread

It does appear that DH intends to publish more DK books. Unless some of the material to be published was part of the final scripts that Jim turned over some months ago, it doesn't appear the new books will feature his contributions.
