Re: Ninja-K #11 Discussion
I've been so down on Valiant lately. After I got so excited last year going through their whole catalogue, really learning everything it's been just let down after let down and feels like the company really lost its path as a whole. HOWEVER This issue was excellent. First book of theirs in awhile I ...

Like the last post said, feels like a filler. There's too much filler across all valiant books to be frank.

At least things are picking up a little, but I feel like this one's a bit phoned in. Art looks nice. Just very not emotionally invested in this event.

Flying Sparks Comic - IndieGoGo
Finally getting my own comic material out there. I've posted before of my work with artist Jethro Morales (Green Hornet, Dejah Thoris) and this is our first project together. Flying Sparks is a hero and villain in love, dating under their their secret identities and each unaware of each others' secr...

I've never read this before. I know this was a hot property in the late 90s and I just picked up the "definitive edition" trade which has a lot of content for like $50. I'm about 120 pages into the story. This is very good stuff. Both the art and the story are very compelling, reminds me a...

Re: VALIANT JUNE 2018 SALES
I don't find it very surprising, as I've been reading some of these recent issues after having not read any Valiant for a few years and while I always find them to be professionally done I feel a lack of direction or 'hook' to get me excited about the character/storyline. I can see how casual fans ...

Re: Bloodshot: Salvation #11 Discussion
Agreed with last post. Fun, good, not great. The rest of the series really didn't set this up emotionally to feel like much. It went on an introspective bent and then this went kinda all over the map. I frankly prefer this issue with Bloodshot as it feels a little more like the character sorta promi...

Re: Harbinger Wars II #2 Discussion
Chuck Dixon's rules of comics is that you should have at least 3 pieces of action in a comic. For a superhero event, especially so. Too much talking, too slow a pace. For a "Wars" there's not a lot of war going on. "Really you blokes should take at least a beginner's class in mind man...

Re: X-O Manowar [2017] #16 Discussion
Not to sound snarky here or anything, but how do you not get this story line? From the beginning, Kindt told you what kind of book it was going to be, where he was going with all of this story. Why does Aric always find himself in war? From the moment he lands on Gorin, he ends up in a fight (FCBD,...

Re: Bloodshot: Salvation #10 Discussion
As someone noted above, just not a lot happened in the issue. I feel like there's a lack of passion in this storyline coming from the writing department. We've had like side issues of a whole villain origin (who hasn't done a whole heck of a lot), we had the no-art issue, and now like a drawn out de...

I don't know that another faith book by the same writer is super compelling. Bloodshot Rising Spirit is interesting. I am not familiar with the writers and it's weird not having Lemire after all this time. Anyone know deets? Incursion sounds A+ legit 100%. So impressed with Diggle's Shadowman so I'm...

Re: Matt Kindt on ‘X-O Manowar: Agent’
CB: On your X-O run, you’ve delivered constant change, including an arc set in Aric’s past. Is that by design? Kindt: Well, yeah… ha ha! I’ve been reading comics my entire life so I feel like you get to a certain point where you’ve seen everything and honestly, that’s what drives me and has driven ...

Re: Complaining About Quantum & Woody
Yeah I haven't found the humor in almost all of it. A couple issues were okay, but "OMG You're white are being you racist?!" jokes over and over get old. The goat was an amusing thing for a sec, but nothing really gripping or compelling about the characters whatsoever. This last incarnatio...

Kicked *SQUEE*. I loved the deadside coolness, the Abettor (I forget if I"m spelling that right) development. Shadowman might be surpassing XO as my favorite Valiant book if it keeps going like this. Beautiful art too. Baron Samedi is creeeeeeppy, great job on the characterization there.

Anotherrrrr backstory issue that doesn't move the story forward. Between this and Bloodshot Salvation, I swear. Art was really nice, and it was well done within the context but it's just too high a percentage of books that do this too often in VEI. They honestly haven't developed the present enough ...

I thought this was a rough week overall for Valiant. Art really took a nosedive for this arc. Distracted me badly enough I couldn't get through the book.

Re: Bloodshot: Salvation #9 Discussion
Beautiful heavy art for a silly concept. Seems a waste of the artistic talents in what was ultimately ANOTHER filler issue for the series. The ratio of issue where things don't happen is really high for this series. When it does hit it's nice, but we had the stop and do a villain origin issue, the n...

Yeah my first thought on reading this issue was "damn I need to go back and read the rest of the shadowman stuff again cuz I don't remember this level of detail."
This is phenomenal. Valiant's best work in awhile.

Beautiful art. Beautiful return issue. I'm rather mad about the whole thing with Saana though. I don't think they should have just thrown the relationship away, which is done now. Tends to happen a lot in comics, I notice. It would be refreshing to allow a relationship to flourish for once. Also wou...

I really should write this up for the site too because I'm passionate about it. THE WRAP UP ISSUE! This is about as spoilerific of an issue as it possibly gets. Kindt infodumped a complete conclusion to the planet Aric's been exiled on for the whole series AND laid the backstory of how we got there ...

Shadowman (2018) #1
Woot. I got to my comic shop during lunch and read both the books this week, so first! This was one of those weeks where, for the first time in awhile, I was watching my watch to go "when is it gonna open!" so I could pick up my books. Which is odd, because I get review copies of Valiant s...

Re: Bloodshot: Salvation #7 Discussion
Neat gimmick. From that standpoint, I am amused. BUT... I feel insulted that I paid $4 for that gimmick though on Bloodshot. No real development, The "no sight" concept got tired by like 4-5 pages in, and no visuals defeats the point of having a comic book. Indie arty-farty is not good for...

I over the last year caught up on EVERYTHING. I think the essentials are: 1. XO Manowar 2012 2. Harbinger (including Omegas and Imperium) 3. Ninjak 4. Bloodshot Reborn (honestly the first series doesn't really tie much into this other than sorta introducing the character which you can figure out in ...
