Re: Putting together a DEFIANT Comics fanzine
Just joined the Facebook group too. I have to admit that I sort of surprised that there isn't a podcast about Defiant Comics, given that there seems to be a podcast about everything else now of days. :? :o :P I'm tempted to start one myself. Between a full time job and some *SQUEE* going on in my p...

That image takes me back to the 90s and I mean that in a good way. I'm really curious about the lightning Godzilla.

This has my interesting. Sounds like a wacky bunch of characters especially Pete's Pocket Army. He sounds like a NSFW character.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Sean Murphy could do Shadowman, easily. He has such a cool style here, and anyone who can draw a great looking Bat book can do Shadowman, I would think. AND, big plus, he can do great, great fight sequences, so maybe Ninjak as well? If Valiant grabbed this guy, that would draw a lot of attention. H...

Re: State of the comic book market
I think one thing comics should focus on is their world wide distribution. I don't know anything about international distribution but just a couple of my experiences overseas. I think Europe is likely a hard market because they have a strong history of producing their own comics same as Japan. Year...

Re: State of the comic book market
If the comic companies could figure out how to get new stories to the peeps that would be interested in them, WOW, it would be massive. Distribution is a big problem. I miss the days of being able to "stumbling into" comics at a convenience store, drug store or Wal-Mart. You just don't se...

I think we can all agree that it would be for the best if Trump and Clinton were in fact fictional political figures.Phoenix8008 wrote: I'd rather them stick with fictional political figures, and not portray real ones of either political side.

Re: State of the comic book market
I’ve been thinking more about the state of comics and my more personal take on it. Sorry, this is my extra long :twocents: With many collectible things (comics, records, sports cards, etc), I’m reminding of something I once read about Kurt Cobain and the thing he missed most about his pre-fame and m...

If the focus is on the Asian market, I for one would be all for Hong Kong style Valiant movies.
There is already an Indian Shadowman, so perhaps there is a market there as well.

Re: State of the comic book market
As a parent, my kids are not into floppies the way I was when I was their age. However, they love graphic novels like Kazu Kibuishi's Amulet. Super hero floppies and Archie comics from Wal-mart or the drug store were the only comics I had access to when I first discovered comics, now, there are just...

Maybe Simon Roy for Eternal Warrior or X0 arc. OR maybe even something in Deadside. YES! YES! YES!   I've thought Roy would be perfect for Eternal Warrior. There is something about his work that reminds me of John Dixon's in VH1 Eternal Warrior 1. Just making a connection here bu...

Re: Shooter speaks about VEI, holds no ill will, hasn't read
Interesting stuff in this thread. I never knew the whole story just always found it sad that it seemed things were left a bit acrimonious. I love all the worlds Shooter has had a hand in creating (VH1, Defiant, Broadway) and VH1 Unity #1 might be the most pivotal book in my comic buying years but I ...

Those first three years of Upper Deck sets were amazing. I still remember that I pulled the Griffey out of a pack in '89. Then, that Christmas my Dad got me the '89 Upper Deck factory set. I think it cost him like $125 or $100 at the time. Back then for a new Factory Set that was unheard of. I've s...

I fell out of sports cards completely following Topps first Stadium club set. It was a gorgeous set at the time, but the price point pushed me out. Now ot seems that set building is as confusimg as modern comics renumbering. Yeah. I fell out around the same time and for roughly the same reason. My ...
