Are these characters too damaged now?
After a couple failed attempts with this group of characters, are they now too damaged to be incorporated into the VEI universe - even if VEI were able to purchase ownership of them outright? (I don't think that's likely, btw, just posing a hypothetical.) They failed at Dynamite. They failed at Dark...

I think XO would be best suited for a movie (see what I did there?).
Both "buddy" properties - Quantum and Woody, and Archer & Armstrong - would work great as episodic tv shows.

Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children. Each issue was more of a short story with accompanying artwork. Usually prose on one page and a picture on the opposing page. The first one I ever read was about Death (grim reaper type, not Sandman's sister) takes a day off from taking lives and visits an old ma...

Re: Marvel/Disney playing hardball with FOX & Sony
Being owned by Disney and having their own film studio and making their own movies weren't even ideas when those rights were sold. The film rights to Fantastic Four has been held by Constantin Films since 1986. The entire reason the low budget FF Roger Corman movie was made in 1992 was just so Const...

Re: Marvel/Disney playing hardball with FOX & Sony
So, here is where I'll put in my baseless assumptions: If you ask me, the X-Men movies are directly benefiting from the actual Marvel movies. As you said, they have the little Marvel animation at the beginning. The general moviegoing public doesn't keep track of Fox vs. Sony vs. Marvel/Disney. They...

Re: Why Aren't Key Valiants From V1 Going Up?
I don't mean to sound dickish, but "supply and demand" and "VEI people aren't interested in VALIANT" are sort of obvious answers to the question. What I was trying to explain was a possible reason that VEI people aren't interested in VALIANT leading to the current supply and dem...

Re: Marvel/Disney playing hardball with FOX & Sony
I have only seen one of the X-Men movies and that was the very first one. So I can make no judgement on how good or bad the movies are or how much better or worse off they would be under the Marvel tent. But that doesn't change that it's a good business decision for Marvel to try to get those film r...

Re: Marvel/Disney playing hardball with FOX & Sony
The money from the comics is pocket change compared to the films. Being part of Disney, and with their own film studio churning out mega successful films, and with all the merchandising, they dont really lose much cancelling even their highest selling titles. The comics are just one more piece of me...

Re: Marvel/Disney playing hardball with FOX & Sony
I think its a good business decision. The movies are the major media now, not the comics. The comics support the films, not the other way around. So why should DMarvel/Disney help promote another studio's films? It sucks for the people who care about the comics. But when you look at it as just busin...

Marvel/Disney playing hardball with FOX & Sony
Looks like Marvel/Disney is playing pretty tough with the competing studios that have film rights to the Marvel characters. Those properties are seeing NO support from Marvel/Disney. That includes Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four. Related comic titles are being cancelled. Characters are being kille...

Re: Why Aren't Key Valiants From V1 Going Up?
Perhaps the better analogy is Ultimate Spider-man #1 from 2000. It was hot, hot, hot in all its variants for a few years when it came out. In the long run, it only enhanced the desire for Amazing Fantasy #15, while Ultimate declined. One difference being that the story of the original Spider-Man, s...

Re: Why Aren't Key Valiants From V1 Going Up?
Significant changes to characters don't tend to negate the original first appearances in comic collecting. Even Showcase #4 with a totally new Flash, in a totally new (and more iconic) costume, ushering in a whole new Silver Age of comics, isn't more valuable than the first Flash ever. Groot in Tal...

Re: Why Aren't Key Valiants From V1 Going Up?
I don't know what I'm talking about, but I would think that VH1 and VEI being two separate "universes" would have something to do with it. Sure, Harada first appeared in Solar #3, but that was a different Harada. Bloodshot first appeared in EW#5, but that was a different Bloodshot. Solar ...

That cover design reminds me of the Buck Rogers In The 25th Century opening sequence.

Re: Armor Hunters: Reading Order
I've been reading according to the checklist order, and it doesn't seem like the best order. It seems like Armor Hunters: Bloodshot is way behind the rest of the books. And the story in each issue of Armor Hunters: Harbinger takes place prior to the issue of Armor Hunters before it on the checklist....

Yep, Handbrake. I've used it on Windows, OSX, and Ubuntu Linux. Great little program. One way to extract just the clip you want is to make a "preview" in Handbrake That lets you set a beginning and end point to "preview" the encoding, but it saves that clip as a separate file. Yo...

Re: Quantum & Woody #12 Discussion
Getting caught up on some Valiant reading and finally just read this. I don't truly laugh "out loud" very often when reading, but one line in this book made me do that for the first time in a long time. "The authorities are storming the building! Shall I deploy the hug-starved orphans...
