Re: What series to read?

Thank you. How do you feel about Bloodshot 2012? I think it will be that or X-O 2012. Also, where is a good place to get reader quality trade paper backs online?

What series to read?

This week I have read my first modern Valiant comic. I read the first three issues of the new X-O Manowar series and really enjoyed the story and artwork. I can't wait to read issue 4 when it comes out. I want to broaden my horizons on the post 2012 stories. What would generally be accepted as a gre...

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

I agree completely. Eye appeal is a huge selling point. I'm not skilled enough to tell the difference between 9.8 and 9.6. Even some 9.4's to me look amazing. Case in point, my solar #10 is a 9.4 and looks great and cost me around $75. I will check out your store. Always looking.

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Personally, any 9.8 unless it is a great price isn't worth it to me. Most of the time a 9.8 is well over twice the price of a 9.6. I never buy a comic for resale so buying two 9.6's instead of one 9.8 gets me what I want, more great looking books to add to my collection. Right now I'm trying to build.

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Well the variant madness has struck me. Up till 2 weeks ago I was a strict v1 collector only. After I saw how beautiful the metal cover is, I picked up a Bloodshot 1 ribic variant and Bloodshot reborn 1 gold variant. Both cgc 9.6. Also just snagged a xo1 jones variant. Cgc 9.8. I think up next are B...

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Hahaha. 17 years. I have kicked around the idea of getting that Spider-Man. To get back to my original post, my X-O #1 brushed metal showed up and I couldn't be happier. What a beauty. I'm now gonna try and track down some rare modern Bloodshot variants. The reborn #1 gold and #1 ribic variant are h...

Re: Pop collecting

Mostly out of box. I have my rare or favorite ones in hard cases. I save all the boxes and my daughter built a wall out of the boxes. The only bad part is they take up a lot of space. It is starting to wear thin on the wife. 300+ pops take over a whole room where 300 comics fill a long box.

Pop collecting

Is this the forum where a 36 year old married man can openly admit to having a massive funko pop collection? I love Marvel and Star Wars pops. I have built shelves in my house to display them. Initially I started collecting them with my daughter. She soon lost interest but I didn't. Pops are second ...

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Great post Hulkman181. I agree with what you say about silver and bronze age books. Outside of Valiant, I also collect silver and bronze age key books. I can only speak for myself here but I only collect comics of characters I like or covers that remind me of my youth. I never buy a comic for possib...

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Awesome reply. That sheds a lot of light on the subject. True, the unknown is a monetary risk but the unknown is kind of exciting to me. I base what I pay for books on emotion. If it makes me feel excited to be in the mix then it is worth it. I enjoy the chase. Thanks for all the great info!

Looks good. I have a few of the older chromium covers displayed so I can see them as I get ready for work in the morning. Puts me in a good mood for the day.

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Just a guess but I would assume that 90% of the people that own this book would be on this forum. When really rare variants are concerned, what is the best method we have to nail down a print run?

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Thank you. The seller said he had the 9.6 first then got a 9.8 and had to sell his 9.6. I guess I was browsing at the right time. Haha. It is the only Valiant book I own published after 1994. I guess I just opened a whole new can of corn. Im pumped to start chasing the new rare variants.

Re: X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

Haha. I don't know all the forum rules yet but I saw it newly listed on eBay in auction format with zero bids. I contacted the seller and offered $425 and he jumped all over it in 30 seconds. Makes me a little suspicious. He shipped it out today. I might have to post a picture when it arrives to get...

X-O #1 Brushed metal variant question

First off I am a noob on this forum so please excuse any dumb questions. Up till yesterday, I have only ever bought/collected Pre-1994 Valiant comics. I'm pretty comfortable knowing the values of the older books with zero knowledge of modern Valiant values. I got caught up in the hype of owning the ...

Rebirth of a fan

Valiant comics first came on my radar in 1992. My friends and I collected the big two but fell in love with Valiant when it became popular. We picked up whatever we could afford since we were only 11 years old. Harbinger #1 and the like were out of our price ranges. I always thought that the artwork...
