That's a pretty good deal.
I'm probably just imagining Valiants going up at the moment.
Probably wishful thinking. lol

My bad. Sorry. An X-O 68 CGC 9.8 just went for 202.50, which at first I thought was high, but who knows? Maybe that's what it should be worth. I think it's a 1/1. 2 X-O Golds just closed, one a CGC 9.8 at 215 and a 9.6 at 60+. I think there are a few others I noticed recently too, but can't remember...

I don't really know if they're overpaying, or if they're setting new higher prices on a few books.
See the link Greg provided above for an example.

I think there are definately some new bidders going after Valiant Cgcs on eBay at the moment who haven't followed the market too closely.
There definately seems to be new interest in Valiants, at least on certain books.

I wonder what the record for a Unity 0 CGC 9.8 is?
There's one closing today and it's already higher than I remember one ever getting. Way higher.
I don't remember seeing one above 40.00.

Harbinger 1

Does anyone remember the Harb 1 cover color guide selling a few years ago on eBay? It went for close to a grand.
There's something about Harb 1. Great investment, in my opinion.

Now that's an impressive collection.
It is both fun, and neurotic.
I remember my ex-girlfriend back in the day telling me if I ever got hungry I could eat my comics. Now that would've been one expensive meal, unless I ate the overprinted stuff.

Thanks for that link.
Looks like some great discussion.
There's a resurgence going on with Valiant, for whatever reason.
I've added about 20 slabbed Valiants myself in the last week or so.

X-O 68 CGC 9.8 on eBay

Did anyone notice the X-O 68 CGC 9.8 on eBay that closed at 202.50?
I thought I was thinking outside the box bidding 120.00 on it.

All I can say is I've lost money with both due to grading problems.
It's definately a roll of the dice with both.

Donations

I just decided to make my first donation to this site, as the info here is so useful to researching before buying. There are other reasons to donate as well, of course.

Thanks for the info. I've been on a Valiant buying binge this month, buying up some unslabbeds and adding 17 slabbed Valiants. I haven't followed the market overly closely on Valiants, but I just get the feeling now's the time to pick up the buying pace on them. This site is an incredible resource, ...

You're right. That has the potential to happen and probably will happen during any relaunch, but ain't no telling who it's gonna be!

Minor characters

Are there any Valiant characters that seemed minor in the past that may emerge as important in the future when they're brought back?
Timewalker comes to mind as one.

I guess there's always the possibility of creating a few new characters also.
The creators they get will be crucial as well.

It would be nice if the new owners would make a run at acquiring those Gold Key characters.
I wonder if there's any chance of that happening?

Question about the Gold Key characters...

Hey,
Here's a question most members here probably know the answer to. Did the new owners of Valiant acquire the Gold Key characters? I think I read somewhere they didn't.
If not, do you guys think that would diminish the long-term prospects of these characters' books as investments?

I think you may be right that most key Valiants won't surpass their highest prices any time soon, but I doubt there are many Valiant fans or investors expecting a huge surge in prices on Valiants given the collapse of the market most of us lived through already. However, there will surely be increas...

There's a couple copies of Solar 10 in high grade CGC on eBay at the moment!
As I recall, that was a tough book to get in high grade.

I think Turok 1 has a far greater print-run than ten times the amount of the scarcer stuff. (I referred to ten times the print-run and 50 times the demand, not 100 times the print-run with less demand like Turok 1.) I think your strategy is good, I just think there are other ways to go about it that...

I'm not sure I agree with that, though I'm sure it would be profitale to buy those.
If a book is now cheap and has a low print-run, it won't nescessarily beat a book with a print-run ten times the amount that will have a demand for 50 times the amount.

Thanks for the tip on the A & A gold, Greg.
If a CGC copy ever comes up on eBay, I'll probably bid.
This is a great topic!
