Re: What is the overall state of the early 90's Valiant market?

All collectibles are in a bubble right now since (no offense intended) folks like yourself have come out of the woodwork during the pandemic after being away for 30 years - Magic, sports cards, Pokemon, comics, sneakers, whatever. The optimists here would say the prices are just going to keep going ...

Re: Ninjak #1 Questions

Yeah, my biggest problem with the art in this series isn't the art itself, it's the multiple panels per issue that are incomprehensible.

Re: Valiant's problem with royalties

Between Valiant not exactly setting the world on fire at any point in the last 10 years and the DMG takeover, which likely voided previous agreements, it's not terribly hard to believe payments aren't flowing. But without anyone seeing any actual, executed contracts, it's all baseless accusations an...

... action figure line. It would be huge. Surprised we are doing a game over that..... A big deal, yes, but how huge for sales profitability? I imagine Valiant action figures not selling well based on few kids knowing anything about the characters Action figures being for kids.

Re: Valiant Kickstarter….does anyone care?

I find it odd when companies of means put together a Kickstarter. It's almost like they don't have enough belief in their product to invest the time and money in their own product. For me, the spirit of Kickstarter is creator or inventor produced products that need funding and community support. Th...

The first MiB came out in 1990. The second came out in 1991, which is the year the smut became the norm.

I didn’t mean to start a frenzy with this thread or create any animosity. Don't think there's any animosity created. Just some polite disagreement. Am I the only weirdo among the group who collects these UK variants? If anybody has any they wish to part with, please dm me. I don't search them out, ...

Re: Marvel U.K. Pence Variants

Like I said, I wasn't sure when UK variants started. I've seen plenty of examples from the 70s, not so much earlier. I think focusing on the Amazing Fantasy example is an outlier in all ways for any market. To all the niche collectors, myself included, knock yourselves out with pence variants, newss...

Re: Marvel U.K. Pence Variants

I understand your perspective. I just, respectfully, disagree with it. You can't compare the demand of an Amazing Fantasy #15 to that of a UK priced... anything. Well, unless it's Amazing Fantasy #15 (but I don't think the UK prices came until the 70s - could be off there). Those big ticket items ar...

Re: Marvel U.K. Pence Variants

Despite not being a “thing”, finding pence keys in grade, if at all, can be very difficult. No one is disputing that. Your original post asked why they were less costly. The answer is no demand. Rarity unto itself doesn't make things pricey. That's correct... however, when there is a slight increas...

Re: Marvel U.K. Pence Variants

There are also AUS versions and likely others. As already stated, they are novelty at this point and cheaper because there is no real demand. And I don't know the timing but these are likely thought of as later printings or "not the real" versions by U.S. collectors. It's a step down from ...

Re: HARBINGER #1 Signature Series with Certificate (Signed by both writers)

Pretty sure a large segment of this board decided this series was going to be pushing "political agendas" they don't agree with. A bunch of folks seem to hate the art and while the venn diagram with the above overlaps in some ways, it's not one circle. A bunch of folks seem to have just gi...

I submitted the same book recently. I'd say the top left was slightly dinged like yours and it was a 9.6. Still totally worth it. With that bottom right compression on the pages, don't expect a 9.8.

I had to look through recent issues (totally forgot about that Doctor Tomorrow series).

I was thinking of the sequences in the latter issues of Dan Abnett's Rai run, not Bloodshot.

Re: Shadowman #4 (by Cullen Bunn)

I knew there were folks liking this so I thought one of them might post. They didn't. For me, it was another issue with a solid, creepy opening. But then it becomes another issue of monologue and two completely unnecessary double-page spreads. There's just not enough story here. And, yeah, whatever ...

Quite honestly, the last 5 or so pages were surprisingly good! I was happy to see Shanhara of Gennin again. For a moment I was thinking "this is actually getting better!" Having been very negative about this series thus far, I'm really excited about the next issue now.... Maybe that's jus...

X-O Manowar (2020) #5

First five pages were in this weekend's FCBD issue, so skipped those.

Fell asleep five pages later. Not nodded off for a second, completely passed out. Woke up. Couldn't even remember what it was I was reading because this is NOT an X-O book. I don't know what it's trying to be, but it stinks.

Ninjak artwork is even less clear than the first issue.

X-O is an unmitigated mess under Hopeless.

Harbinger preview didn't really do anything.

I just assumed they were anti-Joe Quesada since the big thing in 1998 was Marvel Knights which led to him being EIC.

That or they LURVED Heroes Reborn and are still shaking their fist at Heroes Return.

I'm not a fan of this creative team (plus the coloring was really unenjoyable this issue). That said, this was far and away their best issue, but that's faint praise.

I really don't think I like that last panel or where the concept will take us.

I don't have a problem with the linework, especially on a Jeff Parker penned book. But those colors! Painful.
