Re: Squadron Supreme?

I thought the original version was OK. It presented some good ideas but the execution left much to be desired. IMHO The JMS written Supreme Power series was one of the best "realistic" superhero series in recent years. I have yet to read the original, but I should. I agree with Cyberstrik...

Re: Shooterverses

New Universe is the Prototype Absolutely. I'm reading now. It strikes me the difference between the prototype New Universe - and its re-creation at Valiant. Something interesting about reading it alongside the Valiant origins - and comparing them. Agreed - I love the old NU books [well, most of 'em...

Re: DC Relaunch Story Discussions ONLY (no market info or sp

Long time, no bump. Anyone still big time into the New 52? Not I. I'm still getting - Animal Man, Swamp Thing, The Flash and Aquaman. The only two that I'm really enjoying are Animal Man and Swamp Thing. I feel like I get my money's worth with those each issue. I'm likely dropping Flash and Aquaman...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

The Transformers: Regeneration One #80.5, it's only the great artwork that protects and/or saves only a slightly average recap and tease story with some very cheesy and over-the-top dialogue. Could have been much better, but could have been much worse. Furman and company had better bring their AAA+...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

You're killing me lol. I guess I'll check out Animal Man too. Heh. Animal Man and Swamp Thing is really all you need from the New 52. I'm still getting Flash and Aquaman, but they aren't "must reads." AM & SW - they're my top favourites of the New 52 also. I'm *almost* at the point wh...

I hear ya, man - I was really enjoying Resurrection Man too. Although, I was thinking of dropping it to make room in my budget for more Valiant... This makes that decision a little easier...

Re: Valiant covers for September 2012

Ya really have to go out of the way to make me dislike comic book art. This one does it, however. :? http://onlythevaliant.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/X-OManowar3coverB-780.jpg First time I've seen that one. I'm not very impressed I'm afraid to say. This is the first drawing I've seen so far by ...

Re: WOW! Just Finished Harbinger: The Beginning

I really want to read all three books past these trades. Already have Rai and Shadowman trades on the way, but I know they are only 4 issues each. I am hoping VEI puts out some more remastered hardcovers soon. I haven't seen anyone address it yet so as a public service announcement... DO NOT read A...

Re: X-O #1 goes to third print

It's impossible to fairly judge the motives for going to a third print on X-O 1 without having the exact statistical info Valiant had when the decision was made. However, it could be largely a marketing move to increase exposure of the character and line. Valiant seems to really have in place some ...

Re: Rai and EW Teasers: Appearances or New Series?

I could see EW being just an appearance at this point too, with a series later. Putting off RAI until 2013, plus with Warren Simmons' comments on that character make me think it'll be a series at that point. I'm actually looking forward to a newly revamped RAI - I didn't read it back in the day, bu...

Re: 1:50 QR Variant flaws

I just went into my local comic shop and low and behold discovered a 1:50 for 15 dollars. I bought it immediately of course. However upon further examination I discovered that the back half of the book has a flawed cut on the top corners of the book. I've heard that there were flawed copies of this...

Re: Valiant covers for September 2012

That A&A cover is great. Also looks like the first look at quite a few Harbingers on that cover. I can pick out Torque, Flamingo and Zephyr. Let's compare notes, I want to see if I see what you see. I'll do it like row:column. Zephyr - 2:1 Flamingo - 4:1 Torque - 4:3 Is that what you think? I t...

Re: Valiant Variants - Enough!

One thing we can all agree on, the variant covers up to this point have looked sweet! Eh. I disagree. Yeah, I didn't care for X-O #1 pullbox variant cover, nor the Bloodshot #1 1:50. Many of them look okay, but not $20+ okay. I do like Aja, Harby #1 1:20, and the QRs, that's about it for me so far....

Re: Valiant Variants - Enough!

I have been a collector for about 25 years or so... and other than some silliness in the 90's [yup, still have a ton of X-men #1's] I really don't get into variant cover collecting. It just doesn't appeal to me. But I have to say, I am really impressed with *most* of the variants coming out for each...

Haven't seen the first 3 anywhere else yet - they all look fantastic. I think the Harbinger is my favourite of them but they all look great. That X-O cover is... maybe not so good. lol @ the A&A cover - I really hope they capture the right humour for this title. One of my top 4 VH1 fav's... and ...
