Could it be a covert way to conduct a limited analysis on which books were good and which were bad to be used in future story ideas or which titles to publish first ? It depends on the artist. Jim Lee and David Finch's art don't depend on coloring to look good, so their sketch variants look awesome, whereas Micheal Turner's Civil War sketch is totally disappointing. I believe that coloring actually hinders a lot of artists these days. They're overdoing it in too ...
