Bloodshot Release Date Announced
https://www.thewrap.com/vin-diesel-bloo ... ease-date/
I'm not gonna lie, I was desperately hoping for a 2019 release date. Maybe they didn't want to release the first movie in a potential franchise in the same year as Avengers 4. There are eleven other DC/Marvel movies being released in 2020, so there's still a lot of competition. Also means we're going to have two years of a whole lot of nothing in terms of Valiant media outside of comics. Unless Quantum and Woody debuts next year, and even if it did it'd probably be in the fall season lineup. So it's going to be a long wait no matter what.
If Bloodshot isn't going to be released for two years, it's unlikely any other Valiant film will be ready before 2021. Maybe we'll get some Harbinger news in the interim, but I get the feeling Sony is going to wait until Bloodshot's box office results are in before moving forward with that project. Faith is a spin-off of Harbinger, and it's unlikely she'll make her debut first. So we have Bloodshot in 2020, and hopefully Harbinger in 2022. Maybe. If we're lucky.
And now we wait.

That is great... according to the article production has already begun. I wonder if Dino is still involved with producing this film through Sony? It would seem awkward if Dan Mintz from DMG is also a producer as stated.

I wonder if there will even be a Bloodshot comic on the shelves in 2 years? Even if this movie is a roaring success what does that mean for the comic side of things, increasing their published slate of titles per month from 6 to 7 or 8?

Numerically, yes there appears to be two years between now and then, but in reality, it's more like 18 months. 18 months is about what you'd expect for a movie to take to go through all of it's processes.SuperMage wrote:https://www.thewrap.com/vin-diesel-bloo ... ease-date/

This release time could be the best thing possible for Valiant. Right after all of the Oscar nominations have been played, before any summer blockbusters show up, no Star Wars (that we are aware of), only the possibility of a DC movie. Much like Spawn, finding a soft spot in which to land your potentially big movie is massively important. Both Spawn and BS can not compete head to head with Marvel or DC movies (right now), so finding that potential area where a movie could do pretty good is very important. If they could get at least two weeks separation from the DC movie, that would be ideal

We get a date of our first Valiant movie and yet there is still complaining. We get one of the biggest actors to play an unknown character and we still complain. This is an exciting time for us and I’m looking forward to bloodshot making Valiant history.

Re: Bloodshot Release Date Announced
Honestly it's mostly Marvel that's the problem. They insist on using the exact same formula every single film that Iron Man codified. Whenever a film comes out that adds a little spice to the formula, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man: Homecoming, that ends up becoming mandatory for every movie moving forward. Their movies just blur together to much. Captain America being the exception. Based on the stills from Aquaman and Shazam, it looks DC will similarly be adopting a uniform formula across their films starting this year.jmatt wrote:This is key. It's too soon to say anything about the tone of Bloodshot, but assuming it sticks to the comics it should stand out from the other superhero films being released that year.

Yes and no; XXX vs the Last Witch Hunter or the Riddick stuff. I posted this recently:Sven the Returned wrote:Can he open a movie on his own in theatres with a standard action movie budget?Ricomortis wrote:Does someone have the Link showing where he was the highest paid actor last year?Sven the Returned wrote:Vin Diesel is hardly the biggest actor at this point.FormerReader wrote:We get a date of our first Valiant movie and yet there is still complaining. Using the assumption that: "Studios take only about half of the box office gross"
https://www.forbes.com/sites/dorothypom" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 01e7724db2
The Chronicles of Riddick (2004): $107,212,751; studio gross $53.6 million against $105–120 million budget (a loss)
Riddick (2013): $94,763,758; studio gross $47.4 million against $38 million (a small profit)
The Last Witch Hunter (2015): $131,234,406; studio gross $65.6 million against $90 million (a loss)
xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017): $345,053,084; studio gross $172.5 million against $85 million (a profit)
Two losses and two profitable movies in there; I would make no assumption that Diesel is an automatic franchise draw outside of Fast and Furious or XXX.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Re: Bloodshot Release Date Announced
He's one of the biggest actors in the world right now. Currently Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesal, Adam Sandler, and Jackie Chan are the highest paid Hollywood actors. Adam Sandler is probably so high up, because he makes like five crappy movies per year that for some reason people are guaranteed to watch. In Hollywood quantity is more important than quality. Probably a big reason why Dwayne Johnson is also to high up on the list, he stars in like three action movies EVERY year. Actors like Leonardo DiCaprio on the other hand are pickier with the films they chose, and, because of that, earn less. Leo still maintains star power though because those films he's in are almost all universally critically acclaimed. These other guys are famous, because they're just in a lot of movies.Sven the Returned wrote:Vin Diesel is hardly the biggest actor at this point.FormerReader wrote:We get a date of our first Valiant movie and yet there is still complaining. It doesn't guarantee the film's success, but Vin Diesal's involvement alone will draw an audience that otherwise would have ignored it.

Re: Bloodshot Release Date Announced
I guess the real question is.... “What actor that is out there would be a much better box office draw?” Personally I think Diesel is as good an action actor as we could have hoped for to get the role. I don’t think there is any actor out there that would guarantee movie success in name alone. So, the script, production, special effects and directing had better be good.

One possibility, I think, is that next year at SDCC, we might have a Sony panel that shows Bloodshot footage. That is an exciting thought.

Re: Bloodshot Release Date Announced
To my way of thinking, Vin Diesel is a big action star who for the last 10 years has been in the Fast and the Furious movies and a long line of very forgettable movies. Groot doesn't count because he is voiceacting and amongst an ensemble cast, not carrying the movie as the biggest name, like he would be for Bloodshot.Juki wrote:I guess the real question is.... “What actor that is out there would be a much better box office draw?” Personally I think Diesel is as good an action actor as we could have hoped for to get the role. Bloodshot will probably fade into all the other action movies he has been in over the last few years, forgettable and blurred together with all the others. Except the Pacifier, but that was only because it co-starred the lovely Ms. Lauren Graham.

Re: Bloodshot Release Date Announced
Chiclo,
I reluctantly agree that this film "fading away" is a possibility no matter who the starring actor would have been. However, l am cautiously optimistic with the main actor because of the huge success that Vin Diesel has had with the Fast and the Furious franchise. That has to be one of the most profitable movie franchises ever. Hopefully Bloodshot leads into his next set of successful movies with Valiant.
He just seems to be a good possible character fit for this "R" rated Terminator-like killing machine for the Bloodshot movie.
