It would be good.StarBrand wrote:Could you guys imagine the positive publicity if VEI gets these characters?
If I just can't be me ,and the Arrow isn't enough.. then maybe I should be Ra's al Ghul

Plus, if they obtain the rights ( outright or otherwise) they can publish Deluxe format books of all the VH1 properties, even collect Unity into a proper HC. I gotta think Dead Hand will lead into a Magnus tie in, XO can't possibly defeat a billion Bots ( solicits for Dead hand mention an enemy a billion strong) By the by, Dead Hand starts this week.... Could Summer of Valiant usher in the Gold Key characters ( a little hopeful for that time table I know)?

As a fan, I would love to see them back, but risk must be analyzed and financial cost must make sense. I don't want Valiant to overextend themselves for the characters and they need to own them outright.

No doubt about that.1st Among Equals wrote:I think being such a big fan of Valiant, Dino probably was always wanting to have all the original characters under his belt.

Different time, some different readers, different creators?StarBrand wrote:Using the GK characters worked great last time. I see no reason that can't be repeated.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Beloved by what proportion of the readership though?StarBrand wrote:The GK 3 characters are beloved. I'm for it.
It is a faulty assumption to believe all current VEI readers are versed in the VALIANT of old, or indeed invested in the notion of the GK3 returning.

Yep. I'm all for nostalgia, but it is very hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice (I think that is the saying).
Re: WTF does this mean???
I obviously didn't mean beloved by 100% of people on the fa d of the earth, or current VEI readers for that matter. It's misleading to insinuate I did.leonmallett wrote:Beloved by what proportion of the readership though?StarBrand wrote:The GK 3 characters are beloved. I'm for it.

Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

I misinterpreted that as a blanket statement.

Re: WTF does this mean???
Intriguing. Be interesting to see what plays out from this.
My basic thoughts are that VEI don't really need the GK characters, but they seem to be bringing their old properties into the modern day with new, fresh twists that are making quality stories whilst remaining true to the spirit of the original books, so I don't see why they couldn't do a good job of bringing these characters back into the fold.
Personally never really cared for Turok, but I think that as long as the dinosaurs stay in the Faraway or somewhere other than 'Earth' I could probably get along with it.
The publicity gained from re-acquiring the characters will no doubt do the company a world of good, but I hope they either own them outright or not at all to avoid future problems. Also probably hook a bunch of Dynamite fans that liked the latest version of the GK character's comics, so poaching readers from them would seem to be a measure of repayment for what dicks they've been by mimicking every Valiant step so far, so I'm all for that

Agreed. I'd prefer they owned them outright unless they got an awesome deal.bygranddesign wrote:+1FormerReader wrote:As a fan, I would love to see them back, but risk must be analyzed and financial cost must make sense.
