I would say you need to include the category of VH1 and VH2. I consider a complete collection to be just VH1. I don't care for VH2.

IMO, a complete collection (when using these two words in conjunction, it is imperative that the first word always be emboldened) is everycomic book, variants, ashcans, etc, included... but not card sets.

A complete RUN would one of every regular issue, since most variants are just a reprint of some sort.

:D

Something else. Look within. What makes you feel complete?

Owning a complete collection including all of the variants is quite a lofty achievement. But to what end? Why do you need to have everything? If you accomplish a sense of personal achievement, then that may be a good reason. But if the collection then serves no purpose other than to be placed in long white boxes in your closet or basement, then the journey to completeness loses some meaning, doesn't it?

Do it because you want to own everything. Do not do it because your peers are trying to or have achieved that goal.

I own what makes me happy, which is the start of Valiant to sometime before Chaos Effect where quality seemed to take a dip. Because I am affected by the influence of my peers on this board, I have been trying to achieve more beyond that, but not randomly. I will continue where I left off and stop again where I can no longer tolerate what Valiant had eventually become.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check the mail to see if my Chaos Effect Omega Gold edition has arrived...
19) VALIANT WILL RETURN.
It'll be a celebration of complete chaos and destruction.
It'll be a glorious time of weeping. The earth will shift on its axis.

I have a complete collection, which to me means every original printed page ... the full Valiant story.

Of course, I don't have a complete collection because I'm missing some of the variants and I'm stubborn about buying them cheap.

Hahaha LOL

I'd have to agree here. Slym's defn. is technically the most correct one But my Valiant collection wouldn't feel complete without a Unity Red 9.8 and that just so happens to be a VARIANT.

Having one copy of all the regular issues printed would be first level of complete. After that it's up to the individual if they want to go after all the variants, golds, cards, etc...

Every comic, every variant. Every misprint of some notice. Every international issue. Every occurance of Valiant characters in other books. Every issue of the old Gold Key books. Every international issue of them. The editor copy of Magnus 47. Every magazine mentioning anything on this list. Cards. Promos. That's what to start with... However, it would not be realistic to ever hope for a complete collection of original art.

Very thought-provoking comment. It makes me consider many aspects of what collecting is about and what gives its pleasure.

That pretty much sums up my collecting habits...

Don't forget apparel, posters, statues, action figures, key chains, magnets, lithos, print sets, valiant beer, video games, etc...

What happened to your word there?

As far as the etymology of it, you'd have to ask "Zephanie."

I wondered why you did that. I thought that I was correcting a typo.

Here is the first issue...

Complete means complete!

In my classroom if a kids tells me they completed their homework assignment, but #17 is blank, but everything else is done, well... it is not complete, it might still be an A, but complete means all, (todos) [sorry for the school analogy, but I have students on Mon.]

Next issue...

A complete collection of what? Valiant comics... or VALIANT

If it is VALIANT comics then it is EVERY comic published by VALIANT, period: golds, red, blue, plat. VvVss', everything.

If it is, complete VALIANT, then it is everything that VALIANT produced, comics, variants, cards, special comic book convention posters, whatever.

That is what I think...

Now, what I am shooting for is a complete VALIANT comics reading series. I want to be able to read all the books that VALIANT put out.

(of course I want the varitants, bu thtey will have to wait [as of now I have only one, Chaos Gold])

my .02

Too late, you've unwittingly unleashed the Valiant variant monster by obtaining a gold. Bwahahaha..... you are one of us now....
