Chaos Effect Cloisonne Pin

Post by cinlach@aol.com »

alright. this is driving me nuts!
i just got a reply back from the honorable mr. layton about a chaos effect pin he gave me around 1994. i've never seen another one, never heard of another one...in short for all i know this is the only one in existence.

but there's no way thats the case. there has to be someone out there who knows some specifics about it. such as: how many were made? was it a limited run prototype? i need details folks...lol

here's the short "origin" story.
i went to the heroes aren't hard to find convention in charlotte in 1994. i was trying to score one of those swanky gold logo books we're all crazy for but they had given them all out. bob was working the booth, said he had something cooler then the gold logo books and started rummaging around in a box/package/briefcase for something. he couldn't find what he was looking for but then came up to me and took a chaos effect pin he had been using as a tie pin off and gave it to me. he said they were really rare and hoped i would be happy with that instead of a gold logo...which i was.

if anyone wants to see what it looks like click here it's on one of greg's site pages:
http://valiantcomics.com/valiant/valian ... asp?id=185

so here's your mission...gather me some info. bob doesn't remember it at all which is totally understandable considering how much he's got going on and how long ago it was. does any know the whereabouts of jon hartz? maybe he knows something.

If it's the chaos effect pin at the bottom of the pin page, I have one as well. I have no idea where it came from.

I have one too!

I picked it up at Heroes Con in Charlotte NC, the very same con I picked up the file folder full of production details for the ill fated Valiant Files: Secrets of the Harbinger Foundation.

You can see my pin collection here:

Dinesh clued me into this being a rare pin, I didn't realize!

I'm pretty sure I have one too. I got it at SDCC from someone at the Valiant booth. It was probably around 1994 as well. I'll have to dig it out some time.

Many years ago on this board, they would have sold quickly at $75. I'd assume you could double that to $150 until those who have been searching for years get theirs. Not sure how many people that would be.

This is one of those items with a tiny demand... but even tinier supply.

Ok folks, let's start the bidding at $150 then and I'll keep it open for bidding until the end of the Super Bowl on Sunday. That way, if my panthers lose I'll still have something to be happy about.

Sure as hell hope not. I still feel the pain of the 2003 loss. How did John Casay kick that ball out of bounds?!!!
