Hey David,

Glad you could join us.

We met at the London comic fair you attended in the early nineties, which brings back some great memories.

Everyone was very impressed with you, from the punters to the stall holders.

It was great to sit around with you as the show was slowing down and chat in general. I remember it feeling very informal and it made my day and several of my other friends who were also stall holders.

Since then i have followed most of the stuff you have produced and i was glad to hear you say your latest project is 100% you.

The offer to do sketches is very magnanimous of you, although im not really sure you realise how busy thats going to keep you in the coming months

Joining up here was a stroke of genius, as im sure your are slowly discovering as each day passes.
I cant begin to imagine how many offers you have already rec'd from commissioned work to board projects, so kudos to WBC for coming up with the suggestion. :thumb:

It is quite clear that you are a very talented, cool & funny guy, so i expect you will enjoy your stay here thoroughly and most board members no doubt already feel likewise and blessed beyond their wildest dreams.

With regards to finshed art you have for the unpublished WOP, I seem to remember a suggestion about a board project from the Dead universe section & WOP at some point.
So if you havent already rec'd offers then maybe this comment will :bump: it.

Having read your comment about maybe posting the pages somewhere (here for sure pretty please) is going to have many a board member either in tears or salivating at the thought.

So enough of my rambling dude.

I look forward to chatting about many things here with you for some time to come.

Cheers

Draco (Ian)

wow. I figured this would get some guys excited! I'm glad this is going well....I fell kinda responsible, so if the sketching gets out of hand i am sorry if it causes the book to never come out again.... :)
I also have something else in the works to get the word out about this book. Already mentioned it to David, but i still have to do some Jedi mind tricking on a few choice individuals to get it done....More details as they become available (ooooh mysterious)

I have the art to the last issue I drew which was never published. Maybe if I start a blog I'll post it.

I think that's it.

Let's hear it for the Dad Squad :D !
You'd post art for a Defiant comic I haven't read yet?

If I had tear ducts, I might cry.
Yeah. Like I said I just put up the ones of a myspace page and I want to get a blog going so I can lie about myself. It'd probably be cool to post. You won't be able to read it though as there's no dialogue, and the way we did things then, and least on my books, was I'd draw a bunch of stuff from my head based on a vague idea we talked about, then the dialogue would be scripted.

Also call this number (RTE) G23-ZZH4 and ask for tear duct repair. They do a nice job for not a lot of money. Tell 'em Marty sent you.
Heh.

DL made a funny...he'll fit in JUST FINE with this crowd of knuckleheads.... :kidaround:

David,

Picked up the first two issues this afternoon.

After reading issue 1, I was in love with Sadie.

Then issue 2 gives you a bit of back story and it was great.
And that final page of issue 2, wow. I haven't been shocked like that since I dunno, the Matrix/Stray Bullets FCBD book from a few years ago.

I am now hitting shops in the area and buying this for my friends, they will read it and like me I am sure they will be hooked.

I am going to stop by my LCS to pick up YL's. The hard part is going to be deciding which Valiants to send to DL . . . . so many issues to choose from.

Mr. Lapham,

I just wanted to drop you a note and say that I am a huge fan of yours. I think your work, from Harbinger to Warriors of Plasm to Stray Bullets, has always been brilliant. I will definitely check out Young Liars as well.

I will say that it would be a personal dream of mine to see you reunite with Mr. Shooter to work on a new Valiant book (perhaps a relaunch of Harbinger?). While I am sure that is just a pipe dream, I will continue to support your work.

Thanks again for all your quality illustrations over the years.

I really liked Plasm, too. Fun to draw. It was always a Dr. Seuss world to me. The problem there was the market was peaking when we were developing Defiant and collapsing as we started to release. Combined with the #0 issue card project (which would have been cool if the greedy card *BLEEEEEP* didn't try and rake the fans over the coals) engendering a lot of bad will....Well, the company folded. We were scrambling so much, too, I never felt we 100% pulled the concept together. If it would have lasted though it would have gotten better and better.
Plasm was awesome man. Those Grimmax issues where you started to write and ink yourself, were absolute classics.

I also hope you can get that sci-fi series from El Capitan going sometime (Parralax something?).

Anyway, looking forward to YL #3!

I remember that show. It was a good trip. When the Plasm cards came out, right? I remember one guy asking me to do a caricature of him, which I'm really bad at, but he had facial hair, glasses, and a military cap, if I remember right, so it made it easy.

I also remember the butter and milk were soooo good, the fried eggs were scary as all get out, and it stayed light until, like 10:30 at night.

I'm guessing a stall holder is one who runs a table at the con, not the one who holds the door closed in the restroom. But what is a punter?

Thanks David for teh offfer, sadly being in france won't be helping but If i may I have a bit of question regarding stray bullets...

Where is it ? I mean I can understand you self publish and it's costly and hard and you need money for teh family but could make HC or new TP could help you.. Karen Berger Said that you did not want to get new trades at vertigo.. but maybe image can help ? I mean all teh trades and HC are hard to find so if/when you'll pick up teh monthlies... where won't be many room for new comers... maybe a poll in different site could help see if there is a market for new trades (and nowadays I now there is).

Just a small thought for a buyer in the dark especially since your site went down.(el capitan)
