blank coupon harbingers...
are these less desirable than issues w/printed coupons?
i rec'd three copies of harbinger six in a recent lot w/blank coupons and im just curious as to whether im going to be able to trade them off or not. the coupons are stapled in so they are actual blanks from the printer no slips of paper slid in after the coupon was removed...
any advice or info is appreciated.

How odd. Was this like a printer error? I speak for myself but if those are truely coupons then I would still consider buying/trading with you.

I have one of these as well - a number 6 with a blank coupon, that is.
If you send them to CGC, they will note the coupon is blank vs. missing.
At one point I tried to get a feel if there were copies like this of 1-5, but I am not sure if any turned up. Anyway, it appears a group of 6's got out with blank coupons, as this is the issue mentioned most often, if not exclusively, when it comes to blank coupons.
My personal feeling is that it is collectible for variant-minded people like myself. If I wasn't variant-minded, I'd rather be able to read what was supposed to be on the coupon.

Hi all, i've returned, to the dismay a few i'm sure but none the less, i'm feeling ebullient 8)
I have a Blank CGC graded NM 9.4 copy of Harbinger# 4 that is noted on the label. "Blank coupon edition" I believe it reads, and is the only known graded copy I think?. There are not that many, so I personally think its kind of a rare book. Believe it or not, Metropolis comics in NYC (which is whom I submit thru), offered me $100 for it, and they BARELY have modern copies of anything at all.
I'll post a scan if the masses wish...i've promised this scan to Greg forever but never followed through...an ignominious act I realize!

I was running a comic store at the time Harbinger was starting. All of the issues have the "variant" blank cards, my boss at the time made a complete set of blank card Harbinger's. As near as we could figure out at the time we from talking to Diamond and other stores as well as Valiant themselves. We came up with 5% of the print run had blank cards on any of the given Harbingers.

Please don't start challenging my diction and vocbulary, you most likely won't like the result. 8)
Now, do you have ANYTHING constructive to add to the thread, or do you prefer I just keep beating you up with corrections?
Cheers,

This is good information. It makes sense, although that 5% may be a really rough number. I have to think it was somewhat regional since if these got distributed widely they would be more well known. A set of all 6 would be really hard to get at the same store (even assuming 5% of the run) if there wasn't some regional component.
Also, while I hate to do it, I do agree with Comickings in the other thread about the coupons being easy to fake. I say I hate to do it since it is really a shame it has to be this way. Add in known blank variants for all issues and it's even worse.

The 5% we came up with is a really rough estimate(and very unscientific). That said as far as regional componet, we were based in the northeast and we were a chain of stores(9 in 2 states). I guess it could have been a regional thing but we did get blank coupons for each issue, so who really knows?

can you point me toward the thread in question above...ive searched and can't seem to find it. was it before the board reboot?ckb wrote:Also, while I hate to do it, I do agree with Comickings in the other thread about the coupons being easy to fake. well, i can only speak on the three blank copon copies i have. two of the coupons have staples going through them and it doesnt' appear that the staples have been removed. the third does have the coupon slid into the top...well, it isn't stapled in. it could be a fake. that is how i rec'd it in a lot.... i did't need the harby 6's from the lot, so i just added it in w/the rest of the trade fodder....

Re: blank coupon harbingers...
This needs a serious BUMP! (Coming from the White Deathmate thread)
First thought: COUNTERFEITS
Question: Has there been proof of blank coupons in all six Harbinger issues!
Cannot find anything about #2 and #3.

Re: blank coupon harbingers...
You are killing me here! Who is that guy with my avatar?
I know quite a few people have tried to put together a set of blanks, not sure any have succeeded. I believe I had 4,5,6 blanks when I sold off my books.
As long as they do not have any extraordinary value fakes are probably not a concern. But matching that coupon paper stock will not be hard if someone wanted to.
