Predictions for 2012

Post by BugsySig »

Now that we have seen some more interiors, solicitations, etc for the four Valiant books, let's make some predictions. Which book will be...

The Commercial Success (aka the best seller)?

The Critical Darling?

The Fan Favorite?

The Biggest Surprise (good or bad)?

My Predicions:

Commercial Success: Bloodshot - Just has the broadest appeal to consumers. Probably the most classic shoot-em-up style superhero book.

Critical Darling: Harbinger - Dysart + Evans + Plot Points = Gold

Fan Favorite: Archer & Armstrong - Might not be the best seller, but FVL and Clayton Henry will make this a fun book people love to read.

Surprise: XO Manowar - The surprise here may be that XO meets the high expectations of being the launch pad and the cornerstone book for the new Valiant Universe.

I'm tempted to actually echo your prediction, but I think I'll go with this:

Bestseller: X-O (I think this is going to be more of the widescreen action comic)

Critical Darling: Archer & Armstrong (I think they're going to tug on the same strings the original BWS run did. It may not be a huge seller, but it's gonna be quality every time.)

Fan Favorite: Harbinger (This seems to be the one everyone is talking about and excited to see.)

Biggest Surprise: Bloodshot (Based on what I read on CBR with the dual art team and the comic using a framing device for storytelling, I'm thinking there may be much more to this title than the straight-up bloody action everyone anticipates.)

You're right of course, #7. It was Japan that fell onto Africa in #6.

Wasn't there an old rock song about that?

Toto did a song about Africa. I dunno if that had anything to do with Japan, lol

Careful, you're showing your age.

Just read that issue last night! Erica makes Tohru choose between saving Japan or continuing the fight to save reality. Tohru watches Japan tumble across North Africa, turns to Erica and man does he look *SQUEE*. :atomic:

I love this stuff.

IMHO that is one of the best "scenes" in all of Unity. The artist that did Rai's facial expressions did a great job...

Yeah, it was one of the best scenes in all of Unity, and saddest, shared with Jack getting burnt to a crisp.

Is it scary that I had a similar thought, only with a touch of the flute from Land Down Under, thrown in?
