Re: AICN: There’s an ARCHER & ARMSTRONG Movie in the works
Would be nice to know
A) Which studio allegedly has the script done and is looking to produce the A&A film
B) Does said studio also have Shadowman & Bloodshot? If not then talking of an interconnected film universe is moot.
Conglomerates are the way to go, it seems, in order to sustain and cross promote media of this type.
DC/Warners
Marvel/Disney
If VEI could find a parent studio that would be largely hands off while using the rich library of characters then an interconnected film universe makes sense.
NBC/Universal? If they owned VEI maybe that takes the heat off monthly sells somewhat while also allowing for expansion of the IPs via multiple methods. TV shows, cartoons and movies of course.

Very interesting. It would definitely be the kind of superhero movie that hasn't been done before. At least, I can't think of anything similar.

No one is going to be hands off with an unknown brand, unfortunately. And an interconnected movie universe was likely never going to happen.Captain Craig wrote:Would be nice to know

It took DC 35 years to start an interconnected universe and no way can VALIANT create their own studio a la Marvel at this point.
I would just be happy with the amazing growth and visibility any movie would have for the brand.

Can't wait to hear the full announcement if this is what the big news soon was about. I hope they can keep everything at one studio. Maybe somebody out there can see the profit potential in having it's own shared universe comic book movie franchise outside of Marvel & DC?!

Marvel, DC, guess what... the hero is never in any real danger. The set-up, villain, and conclusion (the hero escapes) are known before you buy your ticket.
Valiant doesn't have to do that.
Why are Walking Dead and Game of Thrones popular? People you care about actually die.

Re: AICN: There’s an ARCHER & ARMSTRONG Movie in the works
Interesting point. Stakes are definitely higher in these two shows. Although, I think TV has more freedom than movies which is why this is perhaps the greatest period in television history. American TV is far out doing American movies right now.greg wrote: Why are Walking Dead and Game of Thrones popular? People you care about actually die.
I think the big difference is that a TV show can kill off important characters because they will be following up with another show the following week. Because of the time between the release of movies in a franchise, I think studios are less likely to kill off key characters because they want that recognizable character to draw people in years later when the sequel is released. I'd love to see a studio treat a movie franchise like the shows you mentioned, however, I think studios are quite conservative and unfortunately don't take many risks. I keep hoping for a 70's like Hollywood revival but haven't seen it yet.

H-E-Double Hockey Sticks Yeah!
This was one of the secrets that Atom! told me about at the Supercon.
Definitely a little shocking that this might be the first movie that Valiant introduces to the wider world ... but it makes some sense. Its off-beat, its different, its got humor, its got a bromance vibe thats popular these days ... and it could probably be done really well with a limited budget.

This was just whispers from a well placed source until you came in here and basically confirmed it! Now we've got it coming straight from the mouth of VEI.

I wonder why this leaked before sdcc?
When I say leaked ~ usually it to inside info given away to test the waters.
I also wonder if this is the news at sdcc ( but more official at sdcc).

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Last year, VEI made most of their news known prior to SDCC so as not to have it all lost in the avalanche of news coming out of there from the Big 2, Image, etc. a pretty smart strategy if you ask me.Phantom wrote:I wonder why this leaked before sdcc?

Agreed. Until they make $200million announcements... it's best not to try to make a little noise over that boom.BugsySig wrote:Last year, VEI made most of their news known prior to SDCC so as not to have it all lost in the avalanche of news coming out of there from the Big 2, Image, etc. a pretty smart strategy if you ask me.

HMMMmm wouldn't have guessed it would be A and A but makes sense. lots of room for comedy. don't need to many crazy super hero costumes (that can really make or break a movie). i can see this being in the same vain as 21 jump street (the first one) kick-*SQUEE* etc etc.

Sounds like an awesome time and HUGE news for VEI.
With that said, I am mostly pumped about seeing Gilad on the big screen!

Re: AICN: There’s an ARCHER & ARMSTRONG Movie in the works
I think that with the success of joined (Marvel) Universe really being under the Disney & FOX with X-Men (I'm not counting Sony & Spiderman) it makes a ton of sense to have ajoining films in some way. It's in the studios best interest in addition to the Comic company. For some reason Warner Brothers has had real issues getting one going for the DC Universe and will be miles behind (hell they already are behind)BugsySig wrote:No one is going to be hands off with an unknown brand, unfortunately. FLIP YEAH! So pumped about this one! Will make for an incredible movie.
I don't think this will be a big announcement now at SDCC, since all us die-hards now know about it. I hope they still have something shocking to reveal there!
