Re: AICN: There’s an ARCHER & ARMSTRONG Movie in the works
A vei nbc/universal pairing could be interesting. They don't have their own super hero stable yet and eventually they are going to lose the rights to use the marvel characters in their theme park. They've gone big on Harry potter, but nothing new is coming from that realm. They need superheroes at some point.Captain Craig wrote:Would be nice to know
A) Which studio allegedly has the script done and is looking to produce the A&A film
B) Does said studio also have Shadowman & Bloodshot? If not then talking of an interconnected film universe is moot.
Conglomerates are the way to go, it seems, in order to sustain and cross promote media of this type.
DC/Warners
Marvel/Disney
If VEI could find a parent studio that would be largely hands off while using the rich library of characters then an interconnected film universe makes sense.
NBC/Universal? If they owned VEI maybe that takes the heat off monthly sells somewhat while also allowing for expansion of the IPs via multiple methods. TV shows, cartoons and movies of course.

I don't want to see VEI team up with anybody. It's not working out so well for marvel now that they are owned by Disney.

Given that Marvel Studios is part of Marvel Disney, I am not sure that statement stand up...ilzuccone wrote:I don't want to see VEI team up with anybody. It's not working out so well for marvel now that they are owned by Disney.
The comics are now a fraction of the Marvel whole. Since Disney took over they have had 2 billion dollar movies and Thor 2 and Cap 2 were far more successful than their first installments.
As for the comics, they are still in the lead.

As for the movies, if they happen great. But nothing is certain yet, arguably quite a way from it.

it really boils down to me not liking big money coming in and mucking up a good thing. Happens all the time.
i was referring to how marvel/disney is no longer supporting the properties that fox holds the rights to. no xmen toys for the movies etc. marvel/disney are now pushing the in-humans as mutant substitute. there are rumors of marvel taking down art in their studio that are fox properties. crazy stuff.

So from the few clues around, could it be surmised that only Bloodshot is optioned, and Archer and Armstrong may be a spec script, and possibly Shadowman too?

I think Archer & Armstrong would be the most interesting of the lot. Like an Indiana Jones buddy movie.

Re: AICN: There’s an ARCHER & ARMSTRONG Movie in the works
I remember hearing about the rights for Harbinger going out early, but then relapsing to VEI later after nothing was done. Sony definately has Bloodshot as of March, 2012. I wonder if the rights would default back to VEI if Sony hasn't done anything with it by March of 2017? Shadowman was said to have a script, but was never mention about having the rights optioned out that I've heard of. Now we hear that A&A has a script but also no news of a studio being involved.leonmallett wrote:So from the few clues around, could it be surmised that only Bloodshot is optioned, and Archer and Armstrong may be a spec script, and possibly Shadowman too?

Great news, I couldn't be happier regards the first choice of movie.
This will be a very different superhero movie with a lot of laughs I hope.
The possibility of having guest appearances would be nice also (I know I have raved on about this before but please lock in Anson Mount for the role of Gilad if he makes an appearance)

Re: AICN: There’s an ARCHER & ARMSTRONG Movie in the works
Just to give some further credence that this is more than a rumor - the Valiant Facebook page listed the movie news along with The Valiant and AH: Aftermath as part of a contest to list what your favorite Valiant news of the past couple of days was..
But until I hear more movie details and an official release from Valiant - The Valiant from Kindt/Lemire/Rivera is the most exciting news of the past couple of days I think.
We already heard from Dinesh about a year ago that A&A was being developed as a possible movie. I think the "liking the script" and "fast track" is whats most intriguing - but I'd love to hear more details straight from the mouths of VEI.

For me, it is not 'movie' news until there is a studio, and shooting starts. Right now it just appears to be 'script news', which is a different thing.

Make sure to head over to COMICBOOKMOVIE.COM if you have the time and post a little bit on this to help get more folks discussing it. Many folks don't know much about Valiant or it's characters, and we are certainly the RIGHT group to teach them.
