Comic Book Podcasts
Hi all,
I already listen to OTV, Fat Man on Batman, Nerdist Writers Panel, Word Balloon, and House to Astonish, and Let's Talk Comics. Are there any other good comic book related podcasts that you can recommend? That you listen to? Doesn't have to be Valiant-centric, already got that covered. But, good hosts that know about comics. Apparently I don't have enough podcasts to fuel my need for comic info, and points of view.
Thanks for any advice!

Re: Comic Book Podcasts
Great topic! I've been thinking about bringing this up myself.
Two I really enjoy are Sidebarnation.com and Inkstuds.com.
A few others that I've recently discovered and been enjoying are War Rocket Ajax, From the Gutters, Robots from Tomorrow and Dollar Bin Comic podcast. All of these have some great interviews.
Sidebarnation is probably my all around favorite for their interviews. I feel like I really learn a lot about the process (especially from an art standpoint) of making comics. They also have some great spotlights on past creators.
That being said all the above do a really great job.

Re: Comic Book Podcasts
Comic geek speak and ifanboy are usually considered the more well known comic podcasts. Both have been around a long time. I also like the comic conspiracy. But that one has a lot of vulgarity.
For ones that focus more on past comics take a look at the two true freaks network of podcasts. Lots of choices there. While technically not part of two true freaks, Views from the long box is loosely connected to it and one of my favourite podcasts.
Comic book page does weekly reviews and takes an in depth analysis of sales numbers. Can be a little dry. But interesting.
There are many character centric podcasts. Any particular ones you might be interested in?

Re: Comic Book Podcasts
I know you already mentioned it it your thread, but Fat Man on Batman is EXCELLENT!
Kevin Smith is the perfect podcast host. He gets so much out of his guests.

I agree 100% with Elveen on "Fatman on Batman." You gotta love his two podcast episodes interviewing Scott Snyder by himself and then Snyder with Greg Cappullo. Awesome!
I also like "Under the Comic Book Covers" and they cover almost exclusively Image titles. They review TWD, which I don't follow, but they have covered Saga, Black Science, Manifest Destiny, Locke and Key, and Trillium from Vertigo and Lemire. Great stuff!
Thanks for starting this thread because OTV can only satisfy part of the road trips I am on.

IFanboy and Fight for Comics are very good. Fight for comics did a Valiant special on couple of months ago which we (on this site) campaigned for! Give them a try!!mkb28 wrote:I agree 100% with Elveen on "Fatman on Batman." You gotta love his two podcast episodes interviewing Scott Snyder by himself and then Snyder with Greg Cappullo. Awesome!

Re: Comic Book Podcasts
From the Gutters is a very good podcast. As is Comic Book Club.
There's a podcast that I like to listen to before going to conventions called Maybe I'll Be Back. In each episode it introduces you to a different artist in Artist Alley. I like to check who's going to be at a show and compare it to the episodes produced. It's a great way to 'meet' the artist and learn about their work before you step up to their table.
And oh yeah, if you have a little more room for Valiant in your life please give my podcast a try: http://vepodcast.wordpress.com/

I love Sidebar as well. Also a longstanding fan of 11 O'clock comics and Raging Bullets.

Admittedly you have to have some flavor with you to dig it, and can't be a prude. Real Talk only.
What kind of podcast is NoApologies? Reviews, interviews?

Large cast, review of books, comic topics. Not for the easily offended. The Dirt Gang wrote:Jay Tomio wrote:It's the best podcast on earth. That's something I love about Sidebar. Their enthusiasm really shines through especially on their topical podcasts.Jay Tomio wrote:If they ever become as clinical as an interview/review show they gotta be put into the dead universe podcast list. Re: Comic Book Podcasts
Fair enough. I agree with the you the JRJR interview was great. The interviews I have enjoyed the most are the ones with the old timers or even some of the guys talking about the early days of Image. I enjoy the tales of the glory days when there were bullpens and the like.Jay Tomio wrote:I like Sidebar but it's very tame in comparison. Sidebar I think is safe for work or anywhere 99.99% of the time. My favorite Sidebar episode is probably their Avengers movie review where you do see that enthusiasm directed in a real fun way, I just don't care enough about illustration to get into the interviews unless it's someone like (the aforementioned) JRJR. Enthusiasm is a plus, but if you are super enthusiastic about something I don't really have an interest in, it doesn't do much for me.The Dirt Gang wrote:That's something I love about Sidebar. Boing Boing's Tell Me Something I Don't Know is an interesting podcast by cartoonist Jim Rugg, Ed Piskor and Jasen Lex. They interview folks from all different types of artist. They are serious interviews, if you are into that type of thing.
Also, I posted this in another thread but worth posting here as well.

Definitely check out this interview with James Sime of Isotope Comics Lounge in San Francisco. He's got some really interesting ideas on the roll of a comic book store and it's ability to create community. I'd love to participate in some of this events.
