I see the One Dollar Debuts are back with new printings and new books (Rai, Unity, Handbook). I like that.

The Shadowman HC and Q&W Ominbus looks pretty sweet too. I wonder if the Omnibus will fit in my comic drawerboxes. Hmmm.

Larosa's work looks much better in BW, I think. It would interesting to see him do an inks-only Shadowman.

It's clear that this series will be the only that doesn't have the constant variants attached to them

#1 will have a pull-box plus edition and a blank cover plus the regular version. I'm sure a GOLD variant will be somewhere down the line also

After #1 there shouldn't be any other variants

Kinda surprised that the return of Bloodshot to regular series is happening with little pomp. They made such a big deal about including the H.A.R.D. Corps into the title, and now it's reverting back with no mention.

Maybe they are saving it for #25, but I expected a little more something that just a regular old solictiation.

Back on the board after a looooong time.

Anyway, did I return to a different board. Why is nobody reacting to X-O MANOWAR #0?

More importantly, why is nobody freaking out about Cary Nord's return in UNITY #0?

Cary Nord X-0 looked amazing. I feel his art is uniquely suited to portray ww1.

October solicitations look awesome but I think it's time they put out more than 9 books a month maybe 11 or 12 books, need more eternal warrior, ninjak and hardcorps

I think after the current initiative to grow readership has run its course, and hopefully succeeds in doing so, they can and will expand to up to 12. Twelve seems like a great number as they could have 2-4 books shipping every week. They don't all have to be ongoing. 8 ongoings with 3-4 rotating miniseries and one-shots would work just fine for me.

I concur. I have been saying for a while that self-limiting to 9 books does not hold up to scrutiny. VEI simply won't compete with the companies with 2% market share with just 9 books per month, let alone get anywhere near the magic 5%.

Saying they don't want to burden their readership with to many books is a logical fallacy -are they saying that they will never change that? If they do, what will drive that decision?

I would argue that the VALIANT First initiative is not what has driven their sales bumps, but that their variant strategies (plural because the plus editions are variants by another name...) is the source, and even then, a new #1 is no guarantee of anything as Shadowman: End Times showed.

Now this is NOT me saying the sky is falling, but if VEI genuinely want to develop, they surely need to grow. Of course that brings costs and requires infrastructure and resources. Gearing up to add another 2-4 books to their regular output needs planning and people, the right people, but I just don't think that staying at the fairly rigid 9 book limit is helpful. Of course VEI only know what their position is, and the costs and opportunities of growing/not growing their line, and mine is pure observer speculation.

But the bottom line is that as entertaining as news about movies that are not yet in production may well be, are not most of the guys on this board here for the comics?
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

I posted in the Dr. Mirage thread the same question about why this number 1 did not have all the variant covers. Just a regular cover, Blank Sketch, and a Pullbox Plus Edition and that is it. No 1:10, 1:20, or 1:50. :o Not that I am complaining, but this is breaking from the normal routine. As for a Gold issue, to my knowledge, there has not been a Gold issue release on a Mini-Series, just the regular monthly series. Am I correct or am I missing one? :?

I like the idea of both. I love the books but a good movie (maybe one that actually ties to a thread in the comics) would be great. Plus if it helps VEI add more capital to the war chest that would be great.
