Oh man, that's a tough month. Some extremely good books came out. I had to go with Harby #25 and Unity #9 though, gun to head. Taking nothing away from the other books.

Re: Book of the Month - July 2014
1) Harbinger #25 - The entire Death of a Renegade arc has been a gamechanger, with this isue as it's denoument leading into Omegas.
2) Rai #3 - Tough call between this and AH #2, but I went with Rai as I'm loving the world building that Kindt is doing here.
3) Armor Hunters #2 - This event has been awesome so far!
4) AH: Harbingers #1 - Great seeing Gen Zero back in action, and love seeing Faith and Torque as part of the story. While I don't expect any big impact to the AH story overall, I am hoping we're seeing future Harbinger story seeding at work.
5) Archer & Armstrong #22 - Fantastic issue that continues an amazing arc. You know it's a strong month when a story this good is in 5th place on the list of books. Just a bit confused on the Grail allegory.
6) X-O Manowar #27 - Loved the issue, great story and art. Enjoying every bit of info we're learning about where the armors are coming from, and this more sympathetic view of the Hunters.
7) Unity #9 - Nice issue, cool seeing the exploration of Livewire. Other than that... quick read as it fleshes out more info on the event.
8) AH: Bloodshot #1 - Not bad, but the continuity disconnects dropped this one down the list.
9) Quantum & Woody #12 - Sorry to see you go, Q&W, but you wrapped up well. Too much else going on this month to rank you higher. Looking forward to the Delinquents!
2) Rai #3 - Tough call between this and AH #2, but I went with Rai as I'm loving the world building that Kindt is doing here.

Re: Book of the Month - July 2014
Xo was just amazing. It adds depth and expands the universe infinitely without being hokey. Sheds a lot of new light on both the armor And the hunters, plus introduces shades of grey on the good/evil aspect of this whole crossover. We start to doubt the inheirant evil/destructive influence of the armors, and also gain some measure of its capabilities. It also engages the reader with a plethora of questions; is control still alive? How many hunters remain? Are the armors inheirantly destructive? Do they skew a wearers nature? Who, or how were they created? Are there more out there? Why did Shanhara shun the vine? And although they don't appear, what of The Torment? Where are they, now.

this was such a tough month, I went with Harbinger and Unity, although Armor Hunters, Rai, and Bloodshot all could have tied for 2nd place.

Solid month, lots of excellent issues.
For me;
1] Harbinger 25 - fantastic epilogue to the series.
2] AH: Harbinger 1 - glad to see the Gen Zero kids back in action.
3] RAI 3 - this was verrrry close to being my second favourite book. Excellent issue.
4] Archer & Armstrong 22 - gonna miss FVL on this book!
5] AH 2
6] AH: Bloodshot 1
7] Unity 9
8] XO 27
9] Q&W 12

1. Archer & Armstrong #22

3. X-O Manowar #27
4. Harbinger #25
5. Rai #3
6. Unity #9
7. AH: Bloodshot #1
8. AH: Harbinger #4
Armor Hunters again was a very good read this month, I am really enjoying this series, as with the Unity tie ins. Unfortunately the AH: Bloodshot and Harbinger did not really do much for me, although I enjoyed the read as it was a bit of backstory, I suspect these issues will ramp up very quickly.
X-O Manowar backstory was very good also, filling in the gaps, whilst Harbinger and Rai continue to be enjoyable reads.
The standout for me though for this month was Archer and Armstrong, this issue was very funny, no particular moment, just the whole issue, and when it was finished, I was disappointed it was over so quickly. Perhaps it is what's to come that has me on edge, but roll on this months issue very quickly .

Re: Book of the Month - July 2014
Another monthly of extremely high quality. The last few months have been the best since VEI launched.
1. XO 27 - superb backstory to the AH storyline.
2. Harby 25 - very satisfying end to chapter 1 of the Harbinger story
3. Armor Hunters 2 - love this event!!
4. Rai 3 - intriguing!
5. AH Bloodshot 1
6. Unity 9
7. AH Harbinger 1
Don't read A&A and Quantum & Woody

8. Rai #3
9. Quantum & Woody #12 (kept apart because it is way adrift in quality IMHO)

Maybe the people that nominated it for the Harvey awards..?lorddunlow wrote:Alright, who's the joker that voted for Quantum and Woody?
Q&W is not my fave and I wouldn't vote for it here (although it was a very good issue this month) ... but lets respect the fact that there are people that really enjoy this comic. It's style doesn't really fit into this universe ... but on its own its a strong comic. Its a comic that you could recommend to someone who likes comedy and superheroes but doesn't want to get heavily involved in the continuity of a huge superhero universe.
