This definitely puts some context on the leaked Sony email. No wonder they were talking about emulating Marvel and mentioning Bloodshot. I suppose Sony and DMG have structured an arrangement to have VEI's movie universe have a home with Sony.

So....

Any chance we could see Spider-man vs. Bloodshot? (I'm gonna need a cold shower...)

I hope they do a "win an appearance as an extra contest". I will annihilate everyone for that chance.

I am excited and nervous about the movies. Mostly excited!

You know I normally like to try and stay out of things like this but for everybody who saying "what if" you guys were around in 2012. Those were the same guys when it was announced that XO man-of-war and harbinger we're coming out that said "I remember when..." Or "I give it 6 months.." . I know everybody wants to point out what if, but don't you think after three years that these guys May know what they're doing? Everybody who said the books wouldn't be any good or that the company wouldn't last and three years later things are better than ever. There's big investments there's movie announcements and a host of other things. It's not like we're dealing with DC here who is proven that they can't get things done right. Every step of these guys have taken has been the right one, and at the right time. They take their time and make sure everything they're doing is done well.. Does that mean that they have done everything they've talked about? No. They've realized that some things won't work and moved on. So rather than dwelling on the bad things that can't happen why don't we look at their track record congratulate them for the great work they've done so far and dream about what good things can happen in the future. My  is over now thank you...lol

The winner gets a chance to appear as an extra in a movie with "positive moral values"... focused on a bleeding killing machine.

I think it will be successful .. just being that guy.
so you want to be the cynical prick guy that points out the obvious risks and can say "told you so" if things don't work out.

Yeah, don't be that guy ... :poke:

The bottom line is ... if Valiant wants to sustain a superhero comic book universe and grow it to more than 9 titles ... this needs to happen.

Lets support it - and hope for the best.
eh i'm not a i told you so guy just pointing out something that hasn't been brought up yet.

That made me laugh!

But my input is, this is only a good thing. So looking forward to these movies, and I have faith in every name listed in the press release to make these movies amazing.

I hear ya, we all really want them to be as great as we know they CAN be. I also wonder about who the key players will be in this next big phase for the company - but it reminds me of a scenario that happened to me just a few years back...

I remember 2012 being excited for X-O to come out for the summer of Valiant. I walked into the LCS for the first time after moving to that city and asked them to make a box for me because I was excited about the new Valiant books coming out. The guy at the counter went off for 30 minutes on why Valiant is the worst and they are already making terrible decisions and Cary Nord will probably leave after one book, he is a terrible choice, etc... blah blah blah

Although I walked out of there and never went back (found a MUCH better LCS too) I was still bummed out. Maybe he was right, afterall, I didn't know many creators these days and I had been out of the comic scene for quite some time. I was worried about how things could go but still remained optimistic.

Then the Summer of Valiant happened.

Then the next few years happened.

And I have loved every minute of it.

Before then, I NEVER would have believed that this would all be possible. Now, history has shown what this Valiant team can achieved. I have been able to meet and talk to Dinesh and Gavin and see firsthand their sincere appreciation for the source material and the fans support. They really do care about the future of the company. They want to get these stories out there and they know how to get the right people on board.

It has proven that LCS owner from a few years ago to be totally wrong in his assumptions. That experience just showed me that there really is no reason not to be optimistic as long as this team is behind it. Of course it makes sense to have strong feelings -- with anything that you love and have an attachment to it and you can't help but cross your fingers and hope. I do the same for Star Wars, The X-Files, Twin Peaks... it is all happening-it is surreal-it has the potential to be something less than the awesomeness that I see in my mind.

I myself have complete faith that the movies living up to our expectations. The WEIRD thing is thinking about the after effects - when the characters from Bloodshot and Harbinger are well known to the world and not just to the existing fanbase...

You definitely need a big dude for Bloodshot

Tall, built strong, intimidating edge .. some rugged handsomeness doesn't hurt either

Obviously Chris Evans .. and Chris Hemsworth are already superheroes - but somebody like that.

Chris's brother ... Liam Hemsworth I think has all those aspects that would make a good Bloodshot.

Plus he is a pretty fresh face ... I think he has been pretty good in Hunger Games. But I don't think he has had a huge breakout role yet where is the main star.

I think someone more along the lines of Dominic Purcell would be good, but even he isnt quite right. Maybe the rest of the cast should be bigger names and the main part is by an unknown. That way people come out of it saying "Who was THAT guy?" and don't shy away from going because they hate movies starring (insert buff A-lister name here)

Even later to the party, as I've been tied up today, but I did Tweet a congrats to Dino. This is a huge achievement. For many of us, it's a nostalgic dream that we might be seeing these characters on the big screen. Of course, I'm sure many of us are nervous that it won't be a home run. Let's hope it's more like Jackson's LOTR than the Hobbit!

I can't wait to wait in line at the 7-11 for the Harbinger Wars Super Big Gulp cup and the Happy Meals action flying Harada!

Congratulations to the VEI staff and investors, as well as all the creative teams. I hope the movies are artistically and commercially successful, and that everyone involved in making the comics and films profits hugely from their work...and that not a few other people come to realize how much good stuff the company has been cranking out since 2012.

Wow. This is so freakin' cool! So many questions I want answers to. How close together can they string these 5 movies? Marvel can do 2 a year from different teams. Can they do a May/August or May/December release for Bloodshot 1/Harby 1? Then a couple year break, then #2 of each again during the same year, followed by the crossover a couple years later? Or just do 1 each year from 2017-2021? Bloodshot has got to be rated R for violence and gore, right? They can probably get away with PG-13 for Harbinger though, but that mind control of Kris could be rough. Jeeeeez! Can they possibly end the Harbinger Wars movie with Harada winning, capturing Bloodshot and Gen Zero, and the Harbinger kids thinking that they've barely survived the fight to run off to L.A.?!?! Can you imagine that?! Marvel could never end Avengers #2 with Ultron beating the Avengers and going forward in his quest to enslave mankind!

Somebody clarify something else for me. I seem to remember in some interview somewhere that Valiant owns the rights to their own characters, but is just using Sony for distribution or production or something. Not like the stuff where Marvel lost access to the X-Men because Fox owns the rights until they stop using them for 5 years, right? Or am I imagining that and they could have their universe out of their control at some point (unless they lump all their eggs in the Sony basket)?

To have Bloodshot 1 coming in 2017 (summer release I hope), that means they've only got about a year to start filming, correct? So script would have to be done in next 6 months or so and actors hired and announced late this year or very early 2016. I wonder how much of VEI's 9 figure funding from DMG is pouring into this 5 movie deal? 20 million a piece isn't impossible. How much will it cost to put a proper HARADA PROTOCOL on the screen!!!??? Cannot wait to see this awesomeness!

Such a cool time to be a Valiant fan! Now I have some more awesome news to spread at my LCS tomorrow as well as during the FCBD day event where I'll be promoting Valiant!
