That giant XO suit! Could that possibly be GIN-GR combined with an Armor?

whoever it is they are very important to the story, since the robot appears in three of the four covers shown, seems to be what Rai uses to get back to New Japan.

Definitely important or it wouldn't be on almost every cover...most certainly it takes the attack to New Japan and is likely what EW was taking Rai to at the end of issue #12.

What makes me think of GIN-GR is the number of fingers and the raised shoulders with the head set down in between. And the size, obviously. Wouldn't it be cool if an armor orb replaced GIN-GR's head?

I'm not seeing anything (thus far) mentioning a Rai #13 tie-in (unless I've missed something)...only reference to 4001 A.D. #1-4. Have we seen the last Rai title as it stands?

I could see yet another reboot as Rai and the Future Force #1 (feat Rai, EW, XO, Bloodshot, Armstrong, Geomancer) by the same creative team of Kindt and Crain three months after 4001 ends (following the same publishing pattern as Rai).

If VEI themes have taught us anything, XO aside, longevity in their comics (staying with a series long term) is unlikely.

From the original CBR interview shortly after the announcement:
CBR wrote:How will "4001 AD" itself be structured?

Simons: "4001 AD" will be four issues, and is our big, broad, Summer Blockbuster. But as with our other stories, there's much more going on that just a big brawl. There's character, and "Rai" as a series will continue for four issues alongside, which will speak more to the characters. Then, there will also be some standalone tie-in issues, similar to what we did with "The Book of Death," each looking at different characters in the Valiant Universe, in this Futureverse.
and
CBR wrote:Kindt: I have to credit Warren with helping us both find this story and then how best to tell it. It's this huge thing, which encompasses so much stuff, but there are small stories within this too, and the ongoing "Rai" series will focus on smaller stories and individual characters whilst "40001AD" shows the overall narrative, and works on an epic scale. They both happen at the same time, so there's double the story -- a contrast of the big and small stories.

+1!! Looks amazing so far, very excited to read a major 4001 tale. Also, I line that Kindt mentions this as being close to the opposite of a major money-grab pointless Big 2 type crossover event - as it's set in such a small, relatively unexplored corner of the new Valiant universe to date. :thumb:

Think you are on to something there. I see a tiny little Rai figure in the bottom right of the picture with the armor up close..
