Dinesh is staying on as a consultant and Warren and Fred are staying and steering this thing.

Fred and Warren are staying and keeping the ship headed in the right direction.

Thank God!
I agree this is good news. I wonder if VEI is just going to be "a division of DMG" and Mintz will act as CEO? I do wonder if the consultant thing is just a transitional thing to make fans (like us) feel more comfortable and that it's just a way to not kick them to the curb...

Still nervous about the company now, but I feel better that Fred and Warren are still at the helm with the universe.

The Dr. Mirage show was green light immediately after the announcement of Dinesh being replaced. DMG is aggressive about getting Valiant characters in other media, but the question is whether or not the quality will be there.

VEI Dr. Mirage only has 9 issues. I garnered the show will be decompressed. The Runaways t.v. shows took an entire season to adapt the first story arc. Get ready for an entire season of filler arcs to pad out for time.

DOCTOR MIRAGE is gonna be a CW show, can't imagine it's gonna be anything other than just another CW show. Not really for me. I'd rather have more comics.

I don't know, granted the CW shows are generally geared a little younger, they have been fairly well done...Riverdale, Green Arrow, Flash are very watchable IMO

Latest news via bleeding cool is Dino and both Cuneo’s resigned. Dino and Gavin are staying on as consultants temporarily. Peter is out immediately. Ben Hung is possibly the person taking over as CEO. A former Marvel Studios Guy.

No idea. The last thing I tweeted was in reply to Dino's tweet asking if Valiant really had been sold.

The suspension notice says I was suspended for making violent threats... No idea what that would have been.

DMG is clearly trying to keep the truth out!

Half Full: Hopefully Dino and crew made a little money off this venture.

Half Empty: Not Again?!? Squee this Mother Godsquee Squee!!!! Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice and I may just fall into a nuclear reactor and get godlike powers and recreate the universe but this time with all new, all different versions of myself. Just squee it all to squee.

I am certain that the new overlords will publish something that meets the literal definition of sequential art, but the return of Dysart probably never going to happen.

I will probably stop pulling monthly comics without VEI and Invincible which, in some ways, is nice. Like relieving a burden.

 :funnypost:

On the sad side, yeah, I'd count Dysart or any of the other current creators out from the future of the books. DMG might look at those 10,000 sales and just be like bring X and Y from Marvel and DC, pay them a lot, lets make movies.

I can't root for the success of a Chinese Govt. property out of blind loyalty to a character, so this really is the end of the road for me as a fan of Valiant comics from now on. Anything that might come in the future will not be thought as part of the past/current state of things. Of course there will be a reboot in the near future, why would they mess with publishing in this way- actively pushing Dino to the sides, but not quite. Right. - if not to make serious changes all around? And let's not forget- this is creating a huge buzz, probably unlike anything related to the company in the last 5 1/2 years. DMG would be a fool from the business perspective to not try something really daring. Its prob gonna suck 1000000+ more than Dead Drop, but I'd bet they will try to be Big, for real, something that unfortunately VEI never achieved.

But, all in all, it was a damn fine run of comics we had, save for the last couple of years duds, it was pretty much all great stuff. Harbinger, Imperium, Archer & Armstrong's by FVL, Ivar, Divinity, The Valiant, V-ditty's X-O, Rai, etc, etc. So many great comics happened because of Dinesh- again a HUGE FREAKING THANK YOU!!!!!! And without him and the company, I would not have the friends I made here, so another one of those to the gent.

I guess I'm gonna hang on for the time being and see what comes. If we get to the cheap and stupid level of Birthquake again, or if they try and reboot the universe, I'll likely drop out then, but I'll hold on for a while more at least. I do still hope for Valiant's future success, and I hope they make good movies and continue to make good comics. But with Dinesh leaving, it just feels like with Shooter all over again. To hear the DMG guy talk, it sounds like all Valiant was doing was comics and only by them taking over were there going to be movies and other media. Which is bull. We all know that Dinesh and VEI have been working slowly but steadily on growing into those other media platforms. Not fast enough for most of us either, but I would be willing to wait some more for it if that was the alternative to this.

This sucks.

Dinesh has helmed the company superbly to date with a clear vision of where and how the company is going, and now it's being taken over by a company that seems to simply want to make a quick buck off of the VEI IPs, just as KingGirlfriend said.

I'll hang on for the time being and see what happens, but the sudden overwhelming feeling of 'this is the end' has me questioning how long it'll be until I drop Valiant altogether, rather than if.
