Re: Valiant Vice-President Hunter Gorinson Exits Publisher
The article says Hunter Gorinson "elected to leave." For me, that begs the question "Why?" Was he not happy with the future of his personal position? Was he not happy with the direction DMG is planning on taking things? Was he not happy with the way Dinesh was treated and just figured he had to leave for a fresh start? Was he gonna be forced out as well?
I hope this does not become a trend causing more staff and talent to abandon ship.

I had a feeling dmc would push out the previous staff. It makes sence when re structuring for their own vision.
I fear we are losing what makes valiant great.
Open door comunication. Gold program. Have you noticed there is no weekly reports or teases yes Dinesh used to do this regularly. But ya get ready fro valiant being like dinomite (sucks)

Can we not make conclusions without ANY information to confirm them? I talked to Hunter last week. It's his choice, not a "push out". Everyone who is still working at Valiant will, in the coming months, make a choice to stay or go. Don't believe everything you hear from uninformed sources. It makes it harder for the people who have decided to stay and make it work to do their job.nonplayer wrote:I had a feeling dmc would push out the previous staff.

Its the same thing. Being pushed out because the job doesnt have the same appeal so you quit.paradise wrote:Can we not make conclusions without ANY information to confirm them? If you wanna split straws we can but its the same thing. Guess we can expect more people to "quit" by your comment.
As long as Valiant produces comics with the charaters I wanna read about I will buy them for my collection since I was a kid. People leaving the company doesnt change that.

I’m honestly surprised Hunter stuck around as long as he did. I heard rumors before the DMG sell about that possibility.

From the outside looking in nonplayer has a point about the way some big companies do business. They can be ruthless. But, Ed at Paradise seems to have some inside knowledge which is comforting to hear.
I think everyone here wishes Valiant/DMG the best moving forward. It would be nice to actually hear a little more from them moving forward though.

So with Hunter gone, will there be a Valiant Summit next month? It's getting close to that time when Valiant announces their publishing slate for the rest of the year, but do we know if Victoria will replace Hunter as this year's host?

That’s the million dollar question right now. We need that summit to take place. We need to hear from Valiant....SuperMage wrote:So with Hunter gone, will there be a Valiant Summit next month? Re: Valiant Vice-President Hunter Gorinson Exits Publisher
That's great that you've got all the inside info, but the large majority of the fan base doesn't. Can you try to understand that? The Valiant fan base is much different that Marvel or DC, or even Image, and we're much smaller. You can't go from near complete transparency to almost none nearly over night and not expect some concern from the fans. It's absolutely baffling and sad that no one from Valiant nor DMG has made any statement about the future plans. It's ridiculous that we're supposed to just feel like it's business as usual after all this. Valiant fans have always come off as a bit entitled to me, myself included, but it comes from a place of care and interest; much different than any other publisher. My favorite thing to do is to turn new people on to Valiant, but with the way things have been going i can blame non Valiant readers for not wanting to invest. On a purely business level I would think some kind of reassuring statement would be issued. And if we're supposed to support whomever is left at the company why are they giving the few fans that we are the cold shoulder?paradise wrote:Can we not make conclusions without ANY information to confirm them? To top it off you're always coming in telling us how we should react because of your insider info and lunches. It's BS, man. If Valiant doesn't want us to be concerned they should tell us that. And if you've got you've got something to share, share it. Don't hold it over our heads like you're more important than anyone else on here.

Re: Valiant Vice-President Hunter Gorinson Exits Publisher
This just leaves me numb. I don't have much more emotion I can feel on this situation. For me, there's really nothing to react to because I already went through the stages of grief when Dinesh left.
I have three rules for Valiant moving forward.
1. I'm in until the books suck. I already dropped Ninjak vs. (not blaming that on DMG), and I'm not afraid to drop everything at the drop of a hat if I notice a clear shift in quality.
2. I refuse to be pessimistic until at least after HW2 #1. By then, the solicitations for August will have come out, and we should have a vague idea of what's happening after HW2.
3. If Valiant loses major talent like Kindt, Lemire, Gage, LaRosa, Suayan, or Heiserrer, the onset of pessimism might come a bit sooner.

There's no reason to assume that nonplayer's assessment isn't accurate. Regardless of the reasons why these people have left, it still looks very bad, from a fan's perspective, for Valiant to be losing key members within such close proximity. Plus, Daniel Kibblesmith left Q&W too! I'm not saying these are all directly related, but it does look a bit fishy.paradise wrote:Can we not make conclusions without ANY information to confirm them? I believe Eric Heisserer is already gone. His last book will be the HW2 Prelude.3. If Valiant loses major talent like Kindt, Lemire, Gage, LaRosa, Suayan, or Heiserrer, the onset of pessimism might come a bit sooner.
