Maybe we can get some motivation back in Valiant. It just hasn't been the same without Dinesh

Love this news. Mel is an awesome guy, a real dude, and a good marketing person. He's been a good friend since his top cow days, and with him here in LA, I am sure we will do some fun pr events to get the info out there.

Funny, was talking to the wife about Mel last night, doing a little Face Book Stalking (gotta find out about the guy, right?), when she smiles and says "Ah, he's Pinoy!" My wife is half Filipino, my mother in law lives with us, and loves seeing any Pinoy in public (power) positions. Both could care less about comics, but it very much matters when a Filipino does well.paradise wrote:Love this news. Mel is an awesome guy, a real dude, and a good marketing person. It's reassuring that your cool with this. I was kinda wondering if you'd see this having the potential to push out or replace some of the other marketing guys, like Atom.paradise wrote:Love this news. Yeah, Mel is very Pinoy and makes really good Longanista sausage He used to do a yearly bbq at his place (and later at boom) that was THE event of the year to be invited to. We went every single year, cause he made some great food and there was a ton of booze.TheeBaldMoose wrote: Funny, was talking to the wife about Mel last night, doing a little Face Book Stalking (gotta find out about the guy, right?), when she smiles and says "Ah, he's Pinoy!" Well, he's replacing Hunter, so it has nothing to do with Atom and sales. He's marketing. His job (like Hunter's) is to get Valiant into the news sites, reviews and all the other stuff that consumers do not see. Atom and his dept deals with retailers and public.jmatt wrote: It's reassuring that your cool with this. Re: VALIANT Hires Mel Caylo as Director of Marketing
I met Mel over the weekend at Wondercon, and got a great, friendly, and enthusiastic vibe from him. He loves the comics, and is all about the comics, and that is very reassuring.
I'm going to miss Hunter, but Mel struck me as a great person to take up his duties.

Yes that's Mel, super sweet and friendly. He's going to have a learning curve to figure out the products as he comes from mostly Licensed comics background with Archana and Boom, but he will do fine.Dr. Solar wrote:I met Mel over the weekend at Wondercon, and got a great, friendly, and enthusiastic vibe from him. Him and Bollers seem like great pick-ups. both were very talkative and friendly this weekend.Dr. Solar wrote:I met Mel over the weekend at Wondercon, and got a great, friendly, and enthusiastic vibe from him. He loves the comics, and is all about the comics, and that is very reassuring.

Hopefully with this new hire, we'll start seeing some more content splashed on websites and social media. I'm hyped for HWII and the Harada mini and all but since DMG nothing really 'new' has been announced... (we already knew Dystart was working on something)
