I dunno, I mean I do want one, but Bloodtot? Nanites are "flesh eating"? They're silver and not gold?

From what I heard, the little insert was written by Kibblesmith, art by Jeff Pina

I am so underwhelmed by this it's staggering. This is honestly the first Valiant promo I have no interest in.

Survival guide, flashlight, canteen... promo items for "Birthquake" after Acclaim took over Valiant.

True.

Acclaim basically started and ended their existence (with Valiant) by implying their products cause bodily harm.

They really need to stick to just making good comics instead of glass covers, first aid kits and whatnot.

Why not focus on better advertising in comics medium rather than this gimmick? there are 3 comic books stores in my local area - none of which would care about this...I just don't get it... additionally, there isn't even a BS title on the shelves for another 2 months!

It's a fun gimmick. Folks will buy these for $20 (likely less than what they cost to produce, market and ship). Might appeal to the uber fans, but yes, it doesn't do much more than scream "hey look at this!"

It's also not that dissimilar to the suntan lotion, sunglasses and free bag that was given out for Bloodshot Reborn. Another fun gimmick.

didn't even know there was a suntan lotion etc. for Reborn...

I would've thought character stands/posters/ and you know, more comics on the shelf would be a better promotional tool to sell the company....

Feels like something Valiant would have done a year or two ago. Seems awesome.

Agreed. Our moderator, Greg, has a cool phrase he occasionally uses: something about how people love to hate the stuff they love.

This is a promo gimmick, nothing more. I hope most of us can keep this in perspective. Shot glasses, sun glasses cover glasses. It’s meant to be fun for collectors, and interesting for casual fans, and attention-grabbing for non-fans.

Does anyone here seriously believe that energy spent on this marketing item could somehow leave less attention to story or art?

If anything an actual promotional item for a book probably means they are pretty confident in it... notice there were not HW2 Power outage supply kits...

Wtf is this? facepalm

Somebody posted the other day saying how recent Valiant tweets didn't contain any kind of spoilers or hints to build hype for new comics, and I stated that if that was the case the marketing/social media staff were totally wasting their time as a result of not actually achieving anything with their efforts.

And now we've got this.

Just what is the point... Is this going to sell the new Bloodshot comic that's still a couple of months away from hitting the shelves? Doubt it. What excites me most is this statement on the website: "More promotional items for BLOODSHOT RISING SPIRIT #1 are in the works, so stay tuned!"

I hope it ends up being near impossible to move from one end of the Valiant office to the other for boxes of this useless *SQUEE* that end up having to sit around the place unclaimed by uninterested retailers. That'll reflect well on the marketing dept.

I love the comics. I'm not in love with whatever chinoiserie they slap a logo on. If that doesn't make me a real fan then,

When the company can barely put out six books a month and their biggest hyped book is a dud then yeah I question what the point of this gimmick is for a non-existent book. But I'm glad others can find some value in this.
