SUPER frustrated. Doesn't seem to work on my iPad at all. Doesn't seem to download properly to my desktop. I'm now 90 minutes in, and a $29 gadget to attach to my iPad. Not a good customer experience. I do not recommend this product to anyone. Email out to GitCorp.

Re: Valiant: The Complete Digital Comic Book Collection
I only activated it on my computer for now. My iPad is 5 years old, so I may wait until I get a new one to use my second license. I have a good amount of the comics on my iPad already through Humble Bundles, Groupees, and Comixology sales, so there's already plenty I can read on there.nycjadie wrote:This is the biggest piece of crap. I want this on my mobile device. Can't get it to work, so I went ahead and tried it on the desktop (which I didn't want to do given that it's only a license for 2 devices). I finally get it working, and the issues are so *SQUEE* slow to upload. I can't get any images. Just speech bubbles. And on a high speed service line.
One BIG pain in the *SQUEE* I discovered yesterday is that I can't take screen captures of the Gitcorp PDFs. I wanted to make a meme for Father's Day (see the Facebook group) and my screen shot came out all gray, so I had to find the PDF I had of the same issue from one of the other outlets and I was able to capture the image successfully.
I'm finding this to be an awful user experience. I guess you get what you pay for.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

So, this is what I'm seeing so far. On some issues, you open the PDF and it looks like this:
I had to manually play with the scale to get the height to fit the screen, but once I find the right percentage, it looks fine.

But on just as many issues so far, it's scaled to the same percentage and it looks like this:
And then you need to scroll back and forth. YOU CAN'T JUST GET TO THE NEXT PAGE USING ARROW KEYS.

Have you uploaded the devices to the computer drive? They load a little faster when not trying to take from the flash drive.nycjadie wrote:This is the biggest piece of crap. Appreciate the tips, guys. I have all the files on my hard drive, and I'm still getting the same issue. The only thing that shows up are the speech bubbles, and a few cover logos. No images at all. I wonder if the files are incomplete or something. It's really frustrating.

Re: Valiant: The Complete Digital Comic Book Collection
My response, if helpful:
Hi Steve,
Our developers have a work around for the iPad, which may be a better way to view and work with the collection. Upload the collection to your iCloud account and then download it to your iPad. As long as you have the license installed on the iPad, it should work just fine. It has been tested by our developers and works fine.
As for the MAC, I will escalate the issue to Locklizard.....I should get an answer sometime today.
Thanks for your patience.

Re: Valiant: The Complete Digital Comic Book Collection
You have to wonder if they did any product testing. And considering it was delayed because of some undisclosed flaw, what was even worse than the problems that got through to the final product?nycjadie wrote:My response, if helpful:

I don't think they tested it at all. It's a *SQUEE* experience.
Still no luck. Here is my response:
I now have the files in my iCloud Drive, and downloaded onto my iPad. However, I am unable to open them. It's not intuitive. Can you advise how to open the files on my iPad within the iCloud Drive or the Locklizard app?
Thanks,
Steve

GitCorp response:
Hi Steve,
You should now be able to go to your file manager app on the iPad, click onto to were you download the files. click on the "ISSUES" folder and inside there are all the comic book issues in alpha/numerical order. Just double click on any issue and the Locklizard viewer will open for you to view the issue.
Please let me know if this works.
Thanks

And mine:
That doesn't work, Support Team. I click on the file, and I get the option to "Copy to PDCViewer." When I do that, it goes to Safeguard Viewer in the app, and nothing happens. Still no access. I've purchased hardware ($30), and additional iCloud space to make this happen.

Re: Valiant: The Complete Digital Comic Book Collection
Response is bananas. It’s definitely not a memory issue. My non DRM valiant PDFs work just fine.
Hi Steve,
I have a response from Locklizard on both issues:
1st: MAC not bringing up full images.
If the images are not showing on his Mac then chances are he does not have enough memory available. Ask him to close down all other applications and open the PDC file from his hard disk.
2nd: IOS not finding/reading the files on iPad.
Ask him to add the license and PDC files using one of the methods described on page 26 of the iOS manual –https://www.locklizard.com/Manuals/Lock ... Viewer.pdf - these are the only ones we support.
I have attached the IOS viewer manual.....1.10.3 is a way of loading the files by iTunes which we have not tried. By WI-FI is not a real option.
Please let me know if you have any luck.
Thanks

And mine:
Thank you, Ray. I now have access on my iPad. The wireless upload worked. Do you know how to alphabetize the files? They are all mixed up, and there doesn’t seem to be a way, which makes searching for next issues very difficult.
I still have the same problem on my Mac desktop. It’s not a memory issue.
I don’t have that problem with non-DRM pdf files I’ve received from Valiant. See the attached photo taken after a restart and no apps open.
Best,
Steve

Re: Valiant: The Complete Digital Comic Book Collection
So several hours in, I finally have all the pdfs on my iPad, ready for summer vacations. I'm happy about that. Except that they are in no particular order, so finding the files requires sifting through 580+ files to find the right one. Hope there is a fix to that.
No luck on getting them to work on my Mac. It's definitely not a memory issue.

Re: Valiant: The Complete Digital Comic Book Collection
It's probably not a memory issue, but just because DRM-free files load doesn't rule it out. The DRM can use a huge amount of memory and CPU depending on how well it is coded. There were lots of demonstrations in the early 2000s showing how much more memory/CPU (and therefore how much more quickly it ate battery) running DRM laden music files from Apple versus regular MP3 and FLACC files.nycjadie wrote:So several hours in, I finally have all the pdfs on my iPad, ready for summer vacations.
