For the Red Brigade, some members only have a one panel app in Divinity III?

For War Monger, isn't 18 the full since she appear in more than one page with multi panels? Granted, the readers don't know who she is until #19. I personally like the cover to 19 better.

The VCB has most appearances up until 1993 listed. I'll see if I can find my old scans of it.

Don't have the book with me, but I do believe they have a couple, like a full page of panels. Their first appearance, I do believe, is a half page, showing the importance.

War Monger is, I believe, introduced on the last two pages of 18. But those pages are unrelated to the story in the rest of the issue, which is why I called it a cameo/teaser, not the first full appearance. (The difference between a "cameo" and a "teaser" in my mind, is that a cameo is a brief appearance that's tied into the story of an issue—like first Darkseid—and a teaser is a cameo that's not tied into the story in the issue—Wolverine in Hulk 180, Bloodshot in Eternal Warrior 4, War Monger in Unity 18.) Identifying a cameo vs a full appearance is, in my opinion, more of an art form than a science. I don't think any one definition works to separate the two. It's more how it feels. Unity 18 feels like a cameo to me. The following four issues are the story of Unity vs War Monger.

Okay, I think I stockpiled enough of these by now to point one big missing book in Valiant speculation. As we all know, much of the current comics market is tied to movie and television appearance. With the coming Bloodshot movie, there's one "first" that hasn't seen much movement. We've seen plenty of movement on Eternal Warrior #4 and Rai #0 (first cameo and first full of Bloodshot). We've also seen movement on the Acclaim Bloodshot #2 & 3 (first cameo and full of Chainsaw, mentioned to be appearing in the movie). And Harbinger #3 saw some movement when it was announced that Ax will also be appearing. But who is Bloodshot? In VH1, he was Angelo Mortalli. In current continuity, he is Ray Garrison, and it was indicated that that's his identity in the movie. That suggests to me that the Acclaim Bloodshot #1 (regular edition, painted cover, and Retailer Review) might be undervalued at the moment. Either way, first Ray Garrison should probably be included on the list.

Okay, so let's get some of the heavy hitters out of the way. None of these, of course, consider previews to be appearances. Although it might be interesting to compile a list of first depictions in print.

Jack Boniface first appearance should be X-O #4 for VH1 (I'm sure that was just a typo).

Do you think it's more accurate to call X-O #4 the first appearance (cameo) of Jack Boniface only, and not Shadowman? Kinda like Venom, who is a combination of the symbiote and the host, Shadowman is the combination of the loa and the person the loa is riding. Jack doesn't become Shadowman until Shadowman #1, so that's technically the first appearance of Shadowman and the first full appearance of Jack. Thoughts?

Thoughts on separate lists for first appearance in previews? Aric (VEI) would be in 2012 Valiant Convention Preview

I vote for keeping first appearances separate from previews. While there's technically an earlier appearance in a preview, there's also a definition of "preview" being "to view before it's released/available", and that seems like the right thing to do. Marketing is marketing, previews are previews, and first appearances occur within the context the product that the publisher was trying to get you to buy with the marketing and previews. :thumb:

Otherwise, we could easily make the case that 30-second teaser trailers are more important than movies.

Agreed. I'm asking whether it's worth it to compile that separate list.

Couple notes on the list:

Stronghold's appearance in VH1 Harbinger #14 should probably be noted as a cameo/teaser, as he's only on the last page and it sets up the next issue, not connected to the story in 14. 15 is first full. *I'm* of the opinion that Livewire in 15 is more of a cameo, as she only appears on one page (the story focuses on Stronghold) with 15 the first full, and first cover for both of them. But since the scene with her and Stronghold is midway through the issue and their conversation is driving the plot so I can see that people would disagree with me.

Unity #18 is a cameo/teaser for War Monger (like the situation above). 19 is first full.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Imperatrix Virago - Incursion #1
Syntilla - Incursion #1

Not sure if she'll last beyond the Incursion min-series, but I actually hope she does.

I stand by my belief that Woody’s 1st appearance was Solar Man of the Atom #3!
