Interesting. While I know his name, I’m unfamiliar with any of his work. The Visitor always had a lot of potential, but really bottomed out as most readers assumed the mystery’s conclusion—and some say even influenced the decision of who the Visitor was.

Holy amazing! Looks like I’ve got some reading up on Legion of Super Heroes (writer) and late 70s-early 80s Batman titles (editor.) He also had a hand in bringing Brits like Moore & Gaiman over to DC back then. If true, this is incredible news.

Hmm, don't know much about this character, but I am wondering why the deep dive on this one. I'm sure they are trying to bring back as many characters as possible, but I don't see this one being worth while.

Then again, what do I know

Makes sense since Pete was The Visitor in VH1. I’d like to see them lead the reader that way only to surprise us with a twist.

That would be in line with what they did for Death of a Renegade.

Ala Deathmate and Kay maybe? Flamingo was in The Visitor books back in 95, could they simply flip the script?

This could be a great move. I keep thinking about great successes with sort of awful characters (Ninjak) - and flops with great ones.

Lot easier to do something with a character/title that was disappointing than to try to live up to something that was great before. Dysart managed it, Venditti/Kindt did admirably, and I’m partial to FVL’s A&A and Timewalker, but I’m not sure anyone else has been able to live up to the VH1 original core titles.

Just for the record, I was kidding. But I like the idea that perhaps Cronus could be brought back. He has the power to heal others, why not himself?

I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.
The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.

I have all of the original Visitor/Visitor Vs. books in 9.8, including one of the newsstand versions. I'm clearly invested in Visitor, but man, I would have though that Bad Eggs might have been resurrected first.

I have to say I am so excited by this news. I liked the Visitor back then but really much more excited to see what Levitz is going to do. The man is such a treasure trove of information when it comes to comics history. He is truly a legend in this industry. This kind of announcement gets my geek going..lol. Seriously if you guys don't know who is do some research. From fan to writer to editor to president of DC comics.. the things he was personally involved in were ground breaking and changed the industry. That's no exaggeration. I hate mini series but this is one I will get.

I don't think I have ever read an issue of The Visitor, although I know the big secret of the character. But even knowing nothing much about V, I *am* very excited about Paul Levitz writing a new modern take on the character! :thumb: :thumb:

I think this is cool news but would probably be more amped if it wasn't some old dude like Levitz. No offense, I love his LOSH work but I haven't read anything in recent memory that he was a part of that I really enjoyed, which is just a few New 52-era DC books. But, as far as getting a revamp of an old character, I got no problem with it.
