Random Thought ... Spiderman VS. Bloodshot? Why Not?
With Sony breaking ties with Disney -- Does this open the door for the possibility of a Spiderman - Bloodshot/Valiant Universe crossover
?
This feels like a win-win for Sony if they want to make this work without Disney
1) Sony wants a superhero universe. Spiderman (some alternate version as established by Spider-verse) would give the Valiant universe of Characters including Bloodshot a huge boost in credibility with Movie goers
2) The Valiant Universe would give Spiderman a playground of characters and villains that would add a boost of excitement and possibilities
Imagine..an end credit scene in Bloodshot showing PRS's newest combat unit to take down Bloodhot - Chainsaw led by Venom!
Eventually Spiderman VS. Bloodshot Vs. Venom
How much Buzz would that create?
I'm old school.
I know in a perfect world we would want our favorite characters to be faithfully translated to the big screen.
But mixing in Spiderman to get the train rolling would make a lot of sense
Once the train is rolling and moving full speed -- the dreams of Harbinger Wars, big budget X-O / Shadowman, and the ultimate dream -- Unity-type epic crossover becomes a real possibility.

Not going to happen. While I've never seen any indication of it, I think that part of any licensing deal would be a prohibition of unauthorized crossovers. At the very least on one of those sides.

Let's look at it this way. The Brood was basically a Marvel takeoff on Aliens. Since Fox has the rights to both of those for quite a while, a Fox-produced X-Men / Aliens movie would have been perfect and not really detached from X-Men canon, yet we never saw it. Why? There must be some restrictions on how much studios can do with the properties.

Listen. If Freddy vs Jason and Alien vs Predator could happen, I'm never saying never.kjjohanson wrote:Let's look at it this way. The Brood was basically a Marvel takeoff on Aliens. Okay, but those weren't licensed properties, so there were fewer logistics.lorddunlow wrote:Listen. Dammit, man - now you've got me wishing there had been an XMen film with The Brood as the main enemy!kjjohanson wrote:Let's look at it this way. The Brood was basically a Marvel takeoff on Aliens. You make a compelling argument for how that would have worked well with both properties under the same roof, even though they didn't do it.

Hey, there's no reason that they can't make that *now* I suppose. I think Disney wholly owns both properties, not just a license.grendeljd wrote:Dammit, man - now you've got me wishing there had been an XMen film with The Brood as the main enemy!kjjohanson wrote:Let's look at it this way. Please keep the VU from ever crossing over with any other universe. Ever.

Magnus v Predator
Deathmate et al
Magnus and Nexus
Heavy Metal (XO and Ironman)
Curious...I am not aware of any crossovers is VEI ...yet... Am I aware correctly?
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

I think a Shadowman/Rivers of London crossover could be really interesting.Shadowman99 wrote:Please keep the VU from ever crossing over with any other universe. Ever.

Yeah... So, I basically meant the current VU. I was aware of all the old crossovers, but why I'd be referring to them whilst using the present tense I can't possibly imagineOxmyx wrote:Umm...too late broShadowman99 wrote:Please keep the VU from ever crossing over with any other universe. Ever.

I think that was my favorite Magnus story outside unity. It was also one of my favorite Predator comics as well. Solid story by Ostrander and great art by Lee Weeks.Oxmyx wrote: ...Magnus v Predator...

Re: Random Thought ... Spiderman VS. Bloodshot? Why Not?
I would categorize a crossover as any story in which the publisher doesn't own the rights to publish all of the characters used in the story (but has temporary permission to do so). In that sense, Shadowman/Rae Sremmurd was a crossover, even if the latter aren't normally comic characters.Shadowman99 wrote:Yeah... So, I basically meant the current VU. I do wonder how that issue came about originally, whose idea it was and such.kjjohanson wrote:I would categorize a crossover as any story in which the publisher doesn't own the rights to publish all of the characters used in the story (but has temporary permission to do so).
