Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter
Is this crossover series considered part of pre-unity Valiant or does it sit outside the continuity?
Re: Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter
Good question. I would say it's in continuity.Jrosen wrote:Is this crossover series considered part of pre-unity Valiant or does it sit outside the continuity?

Didn’t it come out the same month as Magnus 18 thus it is post Unity.

Correct. It is in continuity, but post-Unity.magnus20009 wrote:Didn’t it come out the same month as Magnus 18 thus it is post Unity.
Re: Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter
I saw that Shooter wrote it, so I assumed that it came out earlier in 1992.

It's close, but just after Unity.
Re: Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter
IIRC Shooter was writing it when he was ousted, so the new Magnus writer John Ostrander wrote the script from Shooter's plot. It's a really fun story, and I've always loved the dynamic and moody Lee Weeks art.Jrosen wrote:I saw that Shooter wrote it, so I assumed that it came out earlier in 1992.
But there are some really glaring mistakes that I remember noticing even as a youngster. For example, the slang term that Gophs use for the rich people of the Milespires was always 'Cloud Cloddies' (Gold Key MRF #14 was even titled "Cloud Cloddie Go Home"), but in Predator vs Magnus they use 'Cloud Cloppies' . Might seem like a minor typo, but it's pretty glaring when it's a term that's been used many times through Russ Manning's MRF and the Valiant series up to that point. To me this is a clear symbol of the break between the obsessive attention to detail of the Shooter-run VALIANT to the laissez faire leadership of Layton.

Re: Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter
My limited understanding is that the Predator franchise considers it non-canon, and with understandable reasons.
But, that's THEIR canon.
I'd prefer to think on our end it stays.

I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

I'm pretty sure the X-O ring that's featured in MvP comes into play in later issues of Magnus and Rai, so definitely in VH1 canon at least.Oxmyx wrote:My limited understanding is that the Predator franchise considers it non-canon, and with understandable reasons.

Wow I have had those issues sitting on my shelf while I read other backissues. Now that you say it explains the XO ring in 4002 I'm going to prioritize!Ryan wrote:I'm pretty sure the X-O ring that's featured in MvP comes into play in later issues of Magnus and Rai, so definitely in VH1 canon at least.Oxmyx wrote:My limited understanding is that the Predator franchise considers it non-canon, and with understandable reasons.
