The oldest relic of VALIANT comics? Maybe...

Post by greg »

Possibly the oldest internal document related to VALIANT Comics (back when it was all caps all the time)...

Dated August 8, 1989:

Not an internal document, but part of the lore of pre-Valiant.

Found on the signature table of Jim Shooter at a home town Con he was at. Jim said he was asked to write a script for a movie, and this is what he came up with. The producers said they “loved it” but then asked “can you write this as Eddy Murphy as the lead” (that was back when Eddie was the rage). Jim said “Hell no!”, grabbed his script, and walked out

I like how he says "defiantly slam-dunks" next to his phone number. DEFIANT was also mentioned on that 1988 first page.

I still think The Boon is older...

I joke, but this is a cool post. Thanks!
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

Yep, the fact that the edges are intact means the print shop was a pretty good one. Most sheets ever printed had a split on the edge, so the workers just ripped the sides off.

In my best David Attenborough voice:

"And down here, at this strata, we can see the oldest remnants of the Valiant Period. It continued for some time until the Acclaim cataclysm. Further up, we see the ensuing periods, short-lived though the were. Here, Defiant. And this thin line here is the little-known Broadway Era."

I wanna tweak & fuse that phrase “Acclaim Cataclysm” to Accata-laimysm for some reason
