Continuity is intact, but somethings off about it. Maybe it’s the art. I’ll still check it out! :thumb:

I haven't read the original Savage stories in a while, so it may be a time-stream problem, but I don't know why a kid from the modern world (son of a celebrity) would act "Savage" in his conversation or mannerisms. He learned to kill dinosaurs to survive, but that's cunningness from a modern kid, not barbarianism. :hm:

I haven't been here in some time but I still check to see what turds Valiant is attempting to crap out the door. I wasn't expecting much from them regarding SAVAGE but I certainly expected it to look better than this. Holy god this looks awful. Oh well.

It’s the new look and feel of Valiant. It’s like the second volume of Faith when it jumped the shark.

No Clay Moore. Bummed about that the most.

It will probably be like the third Britannia series, where you just wish it away.

Why didn't they do the same thing as the last mini? Hire a realistic artist like LaRosa for parts of it, and a cartoon-y artist like Clayton Henry for the rest... That seems like a fairly simple blueprint to follow.

I’ve always wondered...what does ‘jump the shark’ even mean? Doesn’t it relate to a Batman scene from the 60’s?!? :hm:

Fonzie from Happy Days, on water skis, literally jumped over a shark.

I didn't hate it the story, but the characters appeared to literally change overnight in the 3rd volume. If you read all 3 in short succession, it's stark. I worry about that with Savage, and the new direction they appear to be taking with it. Clay Moore made some comments on his proposed direction on FB yesterday in response to a comment I posted there. We'll have to see, but the artwork is clearly a departure for sure.

I'm also not sure how Britannia fits with the Valiant Universe yet. It's more Cthulhu in Rome to me.

So it basically means when a thing becomes ridiculous?

Basically, but usually the thing has to be good for a while before it can jump the shark. Things that were never good generally don't jump the shark.

This looks a bit silly and very different from the character as introduced but I love the character so I will give it a try. Im sad they didnt bring the writer back or at least try for larosa who killed it last time but i will try and support at least for one issue. If they try this *SQUEE* with secret weapons and dont bring back heiserer ill riot though

None of those guys are coming back. They’re all working with Bad Idea and are boys with Dino and Warren, et al.
