Will new Executive Editor Rob Levin save Valiant?
Big changes are happening at Valiant Entertainment.
The future of the award-winning publisher’s slate of comics will fully embrace the potential that its shared universe of compelling characters has to offer, and Rob Levin has joined the team as Executive Editor to help move this vision forward.
Ok you’ve heard the blurb but will he deliver? Back to the glory days under Dinesh or more woke BS from D list creators…let’s hear your thoughts?

Re: Will new Executive Editor Rob Levin save Valiant?
Gregg Katzman has hinted pretty heavily that good things are around the corner for Valiant. As a long time comic reader he’ll know the DMG era has been mostly crap but of course he could never say it (understandably). There’s no way anyone in 5 years time is doing a re-read of Psi Lords, Bloodshot Rising Spirit, Savage vol 2 or the latest Ninjak. However, Gregg knows what good is and I’m reading between the lines to think that Valiant has learned its lesson and will stop delivering books not worthy of the company name.
I expect Harbinger (2021) to be the last of the garbage, the next new title announced will tell us if Rob Levin ‘gets it’ or not.

Next title will be an important launching point. I do remember debating with someone on here who was in complete denial that Psi-Lords was bad content (the fat guy with a mohawk and the power of self discipline will be its legacy).Dallow Spicer1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 6:04:23 pm Gregg Katzman has hinted pretty heavily that good things are around the corner for Valiant. I'm pessimistic about the comic industry for obvious reasons, but Valiant especially. Even if the writing surpasses VH1 this time around, the brand has taken such a hit from Birthquake/Acclaim/Antos/DMG at this point I worry about who will give it a chance.
For any Bar Rescue fans out there, Jon Taffer constantly harps on if 2 restaurants fail in the same location, the location ends up cursed and customers are less likely to visit after seeing something fail twice. That's coming to mind with this company now. We all have fond memories of the brand, but if this relaunch fails as well, it's time to permanently put Valiant and the IPs to rest.

Valiant can still be saved. It will take an exceptional executive editor to make it happen and honestly, any capable editor will probably get lured to a bigger company unless he is a true believer. Maybe my optimism is unwarranted but I hope this guy will be different. I need a hero. I am holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night. He’s gotta be strong, he’s gotta be fast and he’s got to be fresh from the fight.
Valiant’s not dead yet. These bargain basement clowns did their damage BUT there are still good stories to tell.

I voted for #1 Yes because frankly why the hell not. It's not like I have anything to lose if I'm wrong. Hope is free.

There’s Gregg Katzman and there’s Greg the boss of this site (who I gave a superfluous extra ‘g’ in his name to be like Gregg Katzman)!Blood of Heroes wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 8:46:50 pmHow many Gregs are there??Dallow Spicer1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 6:16:09 pm @Gregg (the other Gregg) can you please move this to the General page, posted in the published books page by mistake). As far as I’m aware they’re the only 2 Greg(g)s in existence .

There are TONS of story to be told with these characters …just a lack of competent people (at the moment).

Re: Will new Executive Editor Rob Levin save Valiant?
Valiant has pushed me out of comics. I still get xo since I have a ongoing collection.
But all the loose ends since 2012 and broken promises has left me jaded towards valiant. Canceling good runs just to tell stories that were trash by selling #1's raving about them or claiming ongoing but strate up lie.
Then the over prices books from Brad idea and shipping costs and not allowing fair games to be played by all and the snobbery and elitism in the fan dome.
I am still a Valiant fan but the company it is now is so far from valiant it was, might as be Monsanto.
Nope I'm done being fooled tricked by nastalgia and coned out of my money for stuff I don't like. It has no more value than toilet paper.

Re: Will new Executive Editor Rob Levin save Valiant?
I would read valiant, if any of my standing order was actually filled by my local comic shop.
I didn't buy X 0 5 as they didn't get issues 1,2,3,4. They then got issue 4. I said I will buy them when 1,2,3 turn up.
I could buy off eBay, but cannot be bothered.
May just buy trades.
Badidea ships really late in UK, but at least it finally arrives.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.
Re: Will new Executive Editor Rob Levin save Valiant?
I'm hopeful but don't know much of anything about Rob Levin's previous work, so it's hard to say. All I can do is cross my fingers and see what creators and titles are announced for the 2022 soft reboot (?).
