Valiant Phone Cards

Post by bobby97801 »

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here has found any of the phone cards that Valiant put out in the 90's? If you did, where did you find them? I have looked for decades with no luck. I would love to buy them and finish my collection of them. Thanks in advance.

I remember the phone cards, they were solicited in Previews during the Acclaim VH2 days. And I saw some Quantum & Woody phonecards on ebay once but that was yearssssss ago - and sadly I didn't buy them. All I can advise is to keep an eye/search on ebay. They're highly scarce for sure, good luck with the hunt - that's part of the fun!

Besides the uncut sheet I found, I have never seen any for sale. They seem impossible to find.

Picked up 5 x Quantum and Woody and 1 x Trinity Angel Acclaim phone card. EBay seller said they were 1:600 (Q&W covers 1-4) and Q&W and Trinity Angel variant covers 1:300, does this sound about right for the ratio?

It's what the cards say on their back -- not exactly sure whether it means there were xxx of those (meant to be) produced or if there were 1 of those in each xxx issues? Then, of course, the available ones are just prototypes. Do any exist that don't state "PROTOTYPE" but have a card/serial number printed on the back?

Yeah just checked it does say 1:300 & 1:600 on the back of the cards and ‘prototype’. Does that mean I can’t have my 10 minutes of US domestic phone time?? :o

On phone cards (back in the day) these weren't ratios. They were "1 of ### made" codes.
1:300 and 1:600 would be "1 of 300 made" and "1 of 600 made".

I don’t know how to post pictures here, someone explained it once and it sounded convoluted.

Not in the comic book world.

If something is 1:300 in comics, it means there's (supposed to be) 1 for every 300 (of something else) printed, not exactly 300 printed.

If there are 30,000 regular editions, then a 1:300 ratio would mean that 100 were printed, not 300.
1:600 as a ratio would mean that only 50 were made.

In phone cards, 1:300 means they made 300.
1:600 means they made 600.

I've never heard of these Valiant phone cards and I was pretty up to date with Acclaim. Love the photo of them. Very cool. :thumb:
