The CBCS coup d'etat

Post by DirtbagSailor »

CBCS came along and said;

"Listen men, we can't beat CGC -- YET! Since the market is full of 9.8 snobs who won't settle for anything less, CGC decided to let their standards slide a bit to cater to that demand. We at CBCS will NOT do that, and will hide our numbers (e.g. NO census; YET!) until we have hundreds of thousands of books graded. Then, and ONLY then, will we show our numbers; and our numbers will show what the collectors market REALLY wants -- the rare and the exclusive. CGC prices will drop over night (not entirely, but noticeably) since the collector, buyer, and speculator markets will "KNOW" that CBCS grades are the real-deal, and CGC is simply less..."

Of course I just made that up, but I suspect it is exactly what they are doing.

I hope so! I prefer CGC and would love paying less for them!

I suspect that this will only really be a major factor with super expensive silver and golden age keys.

Man, I get the feeling it is the opposite what CBCS is doing. Both sides are going to dealers, looking at their high end books graded by the other service, and saying they will 'upgrade' them. It is very disappointing to hear that, but this is what is going on.

I do not think this applies/matters to the modern 9.8 market. They were super-tough on my modern 9.8 sub.

I wish I had the clout for CGC or CBCS to kiss my *SQUEE*.
