Interesting submission results

Post by nycjadie »

Thought I'd post this one, since there were some interesting books. I pressed and graded these with CGC. These are only posted results, and I don't have the actual books on hand. I bought all of these books in bulk collections, often for next to nothing, but have held onto them until I had enough to make a large submission worth it.

ASM 361 9.8 and 9.6 (hot book - 1st Carnage)
Batman Adventures Annual 1 9.8 (2 copies - 3rd appearance Harley Quinn)
Comic Box 25 9.8 (super rare French comic with original Danger Girl story)
GI Joe Special 1 9.6 (was soooo hoping for a 9.8, but still happy)
Immortal Iron Fist 1 2nd Print 9.4 (scarce Dell'Otto cover - not bad for an unbagged book)
Iron Man 282 7.0 (1st War Machine - have no idea what happened to this book, but I suspect it was not me)
Macross 1 9.2 (2 copies - 1st Robotech, very scarce book)
Miracleman 1 9.6 (1985 series)
New Mutants 100 9.8 (1st X-Force)
Superman 73 9.6 ("1st Doomsday cameo")
Superman MOS Kenner Limited Doomsday Promo Book 9.0 (think this might be the first graded)
Superman MOS 17 9.8 (1st Doomsday cameo)
Web of Spiderman 119 9.8 (1st Kaine)
Wolverine 1 1988 7.5 (say what? I'll probably crack this one. Not sure what happened.)
X-Men Annual 14 8.5 and 9.4 (this was an experiment, as I came into a stack of these books in a collection some time ago, and wanted to see how they came out. They were not perfect, but still high grade despite being unbagged, but with these glued spines, they are often wonky with ripples.)

Broadway Comics Previews - Bought these from Elveen. They looked minty 9.8 to me, but apparently not. I wonder if they were somewhat damaged in the pressing. Also, I think the grading in this submission was super harsh. I'm puzzled by these promo newsprint books, as I've had great results with books I thought were on the line, and poor results for books I thought were a 9.8. I suspect this is because they don't have glossy covers, and the graders are inconsistent.

Powers That Be 2 Preview - 9.6
Powers That Be 1 Preview - 9.4
Fatale 1 Preview - 9.0
Shadow State 2 Preview - 9.6
Shadow State 1 Preview - 9.6
Powers That Be 3 Preview - 9.4

2nd submission was all Valiant. A few highlights:

Archer & Armstrong 5 1:50 - 9.8
Bloodshot Reborn 6 1:20 - 9.8
Bloodshot Reborn 8 1:10 - 9.8
Book of Death 2 & 4, 1:20 Rivera - 9.8
Imperium 10 1:20 - 9.8
Ivar 11 1:20 - 9.8
Man of the Atom Preview - 9.8
Turok Empty Souls Preview - 9.8
Shadowman 1 Special Edition - 9.8 (SUPER HAPPY with this book. Pulled directly from a sealed PC game box, and surprised it came in so high.)
Punx 1 - 9.8
Ninjak 9 1:20 - 9.8
Quantum & Woody 1 Variant (Acclaim) - 9.6 (not bad for a bin book I grabbed a couple of months ago)
Rai 11 & 12 1:20 9.8

Looks like the Shadowman Special Edition 1 is only 1 of 3 9.8s. Super happy with that one.

That's the full-size, right? That is so amazing, if only people knew how rare it is to find that book let alone in that kind of shape...

I won't be resubmitting. These went through CCS as well, which I very rarely do. A few of these are really puzzling, but you win some, you lose some.

The Quantum book is pretty cool. I now have the #1 and #1 variant in 9.6, and the #1 preview in 9.8.

Indeed! I pulled it out of an old sealed box I bought off eBay. Got very lucky all around. There were some light NCB spine creases, so CCS really did magic on this one. I always get super stoked when I pull some beauties on my own like this!

Some highs and lows in that first batch, but the Valiant batch is all highs. Nice!
