Good call!400yrs wrote:Very nice, stat man.
And my nomination for the most embarrasing slab goes to....... Deathmate Black (regular) CGC 5.0?
Runner-up is probably the CGC 3.5 Restored Harbinger #4.
"Restored" on Modern usually means someone used a marker to "enhance" the cover color (normally black).

My guess is that the signature was witnessed by CGC, so the book will get a yellow label.Unblessed wrote:Who would get a 1.0 signature series book?!?!
Now, once the book was graded after the signature, it was noticed that the coupon (and possibly cards) were missing.
Because the missing coupon normally gets a green label with a note about the missing coupon,
they couldn't give the book a yellow and green label...
so they looked at the missing coupon as true damage to the book
and graded it 1.0 out of 10.
Yellow label (for the signature) + 1.0 grade (for the missing coupon).
Without the signature, the books would probably be green label 9.x,
with a note about the missing coupon.

Only 1 ea in CGC 9.8 of Solar 31-37, three of which are currently for sale by ShowcaseNE, and no Solar 38s even slabbed. Not surprisingly, 38 has a black border. Anyone have a Solar 38 worth trying for a 9.8?:hm:
Wow. Awesome set! Something tells me you've been workingon that labor of love for many years. The more I thought about it, the more I actually thought my reasoning might be wrong and edited that post, but somehow didn't complete the editing process correctly.ckb wrote:http://comics.www.collectors-society.co ... ypeID=1258StarBrand wrote:I guess nobody's closing in on a complete slabbed Solar set in CGC 9.8. While my set is the shizzle, (thanks for the kind words ) the main purpose of that link was to show how many different people are actually working on Solar sets. I'm shocked myself.StarBrand wrote:Wow. Awesome set! Something tells me you've been workingon that labor of love for many years. I'll pay close attention to 38s next time I pull books for submission.
It is a very slow process for me. I do not come across commons I need in 9.8 in the wild very often and buying sight unseen when looking for 9.8s is largely gambling. So, yeah, it's been building for like 8 years?
I have most of my books entered into registry sets at this point, and I will pay at least $5 for commons that are legitimate 9.8 candidates of books I need. If anyone out there has CGC experience and will screen books I need, send me a PM.
